HUMINSULIN R 100IU contains human insulin, which is used to treat diabetes. It is used to reduce the high blood sugar level in patients with diabetes mellitus (diabetes). Diabetes is a disease where your body does not produce enough insulin to control the level of your blood sugar. Treatment with this medicine helps to prevent complications from your diabetes.
Human insulin lowers blood glucose by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake by skeletal muscle and fat, and by inhibiting hepatic glucose production. Insulins inhibit lipolysis and proteolysis and enhance protein synthesis. Always use your insulin and adjust your dose exactly as your doctor has told you. It is administered by injection under the skin (subcutaneously). You must never inject yourself directly into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). It can be used in children and adolescents.
Tell your doctor, if you are taking, recently taken or might take any other medicines. The most common side effects of HUMINSULIN R 100IU include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), allergic reactions including reactions at the injection site, skin thickening or pits at the injection site (lipodystrophy), itching, rash, weight gain, and swelling of your hands and feet.
