    Introduction About EZENTIA 10MG TABLET

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET contains Ezetimibe which belongs to the group of medicines called Hypolipidemic agents. EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is used to lower increased levels of cholesterol (consisting of total cholesterol, bad/LDL cholesterol, triglycerides) in patients who are unable to control their cholesterol levels by cholesterol lowering diet.

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Ezetimibe. It is also not recommended for use in patients suffering from moderate to severe liver problems.

    Before taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have intolerance to certain sugars (such as lactose), heart problems and/or kidney problems (such as chronic kidney disease).

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. It is also not recommended for use in breast-feeding women since it is not known whether the medicine may pass through breast milk.

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is also not recommended for use in children (aged less than 6 years) and is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged 6 to 17 years) unless it is clearly necessary/advised by your doctor. The medicine is also advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 75 years/above) after consulting the doctor.

    The most common side effects of taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET are abdominal pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, tiredness and/or headache. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsens.

    Uses Of EZENTIA 10MG TABLET

    • Helps to lower increased levels of cholesterol (consisting of total cholesterol, bad/LDL cholesterol, triglycerides) in patients who are unable to control their cholesterol levels by cholesterol lowering diet

    How EZENTIA 10MG TABLET Works

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET works by reducing cholesterol absorption from intestine which leads to low uptake of cholesterol from food which results in low cholesterol level in blood thus managing the condition in affected individuals.

    How to use EZENTIA 10MG TABLET

    Take EZENTIA 10MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Avoid taking the medicine with food. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of EZENTIA 10MG TABLET

    Common

    • abdominal pain, diarrhoea, flatulence
    • feeling tired
    • headache

    Uncommon

    • cough
    • dry mouth, indigestion, heartburn, nausea, inflammation of stomach
    • joint pain, muscle spasms, neck, back, arm and leg pain
    • decreased appetite
    • pain, chest pain, unusual tiredness/weakness, swelling (especially in hands and feet)
    • hot flushes, high blood pressure
    • itching, red itchy welts
    • tingling sensation

    Rare

    Stop taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of kidney damage such as unexplained muscle pain, tenderness and/or weakness
    • signs of allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, difficulty in breathing/swallowing

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea:

    Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.

    Tiredness:

    Make sure you take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol. Try to take EZENTIA 10MG TABLET at a time when you can sit down (or lie down) when the symptoms are at their worst. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel well.

    Headache:

    If EZENTIA 10MG TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.

    Dry mouth:

    Try to drink plenty of cold water and sip on cold unsweetened drinks and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Indigestion:

    Try to have smaller and more frequent meals and drink slowly. Reduce consumption of coffee, cola, tea or alcohol and lose weight if you are obese. Try to avoid smoking and don’t have rich, fatty or spicy foods. Consult your doctor and inform if the symptom does not improve.

    Nausea:

    Take EZENTIA 10MG TABLET with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. Inform your doctor if the condition worsens.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Breastfeeding

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether the medicine may pass through breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive/operate machines if you feel dizzy after taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET.

    Kidney

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems such as chronic kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Liver

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take EZENTIA 10MG TABLET if you are allergic to Ezetimibe and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    EZENTIA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Others

    Before taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have intolerance to certain sugars such as lactose.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking EZENTIA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • ciclosporin (used in organ transplant patients)
    • warfarin, phenprocoumon, acenocoumarol, fluindione (used to manage blood clots)
    • medicines used to lower cholesterol such as fibrates (Ex. fenofibrate, clofibrate), colestyramine

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of EZENTIA 10MG TABLET, contact your doctor immediately or go to a hospital straight away to manage overdose symptoms.
