Introduction About EFONTA 10MG TABLET
EFONTA 10MG TABLET contains Efonidipine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensives. EFONTA 10MG TABLET is used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure) which occurs when force exerted by the circulating blood against the blood vessel wall is high.
[GBNKEYOWRD] is also used to manage high blood pressure that occurs due to kidney diseases in affected individuals. The medicine is also indicated for use to manage angina (chest pain) that occurs when blood flow to the heart is low.
EFONTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Efonidipine.
Before taking EFONTA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have heart disease (such as heart attack, heart failure liver), kidney disease (such as renal impairment), and/or liver disease.
EFONTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in breast-feeding women.
EFONTA 10MG TABLET is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 75 years/above) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking EFONTA 10MG TABLET are hot flushes, palpitations, facial flushing, and/or headache. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

How EFONTA 10MG TABLET Works
EFONTA 10MG TABLET helps in the management of high blood pressure by acting on certain receptors which leads to relaxation of the blood vessels, aiding in easy flow of the blood and decreased heart rate. In angina it works by improving blood supply to the heart muscle which then receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is prevented. It also reduces the pressure on kidneys, thus managing the damage that is normally associated with high blood pressure.
How to use EFONTA 10MG TABLET
Take EFONTA 10MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of EFONTA 10MG TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea:
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy foods. If the symptom does not improve consult your doctor.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks. Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily, or spicy foods. If the symptom does not improve consult your doctor.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as vegetables, fresh fruits, cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If the symptoms does not improve, ask your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Drink lot of fluids, such as water, squash, or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhea without consulting your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, consult with your doctor.
Headache:
Try to take rest and don’t involve yourself in exertive activities. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead if required. If the symptom does not improve consult your doctor.

Pregnancy
EFONTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Breastfeeding
EFONTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women since its unknown whether the medicine may pass through breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy after taking EFONTA 10MG TABLET.
Kidney
EFONTA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having kidney disease such as renal impairment. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Liver
EFONTA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take EFONTA 10MG TABLET if you are allergic to Efonidipine, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
EFONTA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having heart disease such as heart attack, heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Others
Before taking EFONTA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have/had hypertensive crisis (severe increase in blood pressure)
Use in Pediatrics:
EFONTA 10MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Use in Geriatrics:
EFONTA 10MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Interactions
A. Drug – Drug Interactions:
Before taking EFONTA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- other antihypertensive drugs (Ex. ramipril) (used to manage high blood pressure)
- cimetidine (used to manage stomach ulcers)
- tacrolimus (used to suppress immune system after organ transplantation)
B. Drug – Food Interactions:
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking EFONTA 10MG TABLET because it may lead to increased level of this medicine in the blood, which in turn enhances its blood pressure lowering effect.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of EFONTA 10MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are flushing, dizziness, and/or fainting.
