INTRODUCTION

DOXOVENT contain Doxophylline which belongs to a group of medicine called xanthine. It is used to treat bronchial asthma and pulmonary disease associated with bronchospasm. Bronchial asthma is a condition where the airways of lungs get swelled and narrowed. This swelling cause the air ways to produce excess mucus resulting in shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, and chest tightness.

DOXOVENT works by relaxing the muscles of the airways and widens airways. This makes breathing easier. The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, headache, irritability, insomnia, tachycardia, extrasystoles, tachypnoea.

Always use DOXOVENT exactly as your doctor has told you. Check the label for directions before use. Shake well before use. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

COMMON

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea and Vomiting:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

Headache:

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.

PREGNANCY

DOXOVENT should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking.

BREASTFEEDING

DOXOVENT is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

The product does not affect the patient’s alertness and therefore does not interfere with his/her ability to drive and use machines.

ALCOHOL

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with DOXOVENT.

KIDNEY

DOXOVENT should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

DOXOVENT should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take DOXOVENT if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Doxophylline or any other ingredients in this medicine.

LUNGS

DOXOVENT should be used with caution in patients suffering from active lung diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

HEART DISEASE

DOXOVENT is not recommended in patients with active heart diseases. Before taking this medicine consult your doctor.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,

  • hypotension, hypertension
  • are elderly
  • severe hypoxemia
  • hyperthyroidism
  • peptic ulcer

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor if you are taking,

  • ephedrine or other sympathomimetic drugs
  • erythromycin, TAO, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, influenza vaccine and propranolol
  • phenytoin, other anticonvulsants
