Talk to your doctor before taking DORTAS, if you:

  • are allergic to Dorzolamide or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have severe kidney or liver problems
  • have a disturbance in the pH (acid/alkali balance) of your blood
  • have a corneal defect or eye injury or very low pressure in the eye (hypotony)
  • had, or are about to have, eye surgery
  • wear contact lenses

  • It should not be used while breast-feeding

Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines such as,

  • acetazolamide 
  • sulfonamide like medicines e.g. co-trimoxazole

  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • When DORTAS is used alone, the recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) three times a day, for example in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening
  • If your doctor has recommended you use DORTAS with a beta-blocker eye drop (other medicines which lower the pressure of the eye), then the recommended dose is one drop of DORTAS in the affected eye(s) two times a day, for example in the morning and in the evening
  • If you use DORTAS with another eye drop, leave at least 10 minutes between putting in DORTAS and the other medicine
  • If you are about to start using DORTAS to replace another eye drop medicine, used to lower eye pressure, you should stop using the other medicine after taking the proper dosing on one day, and start DORTAS on the next day
  • Do not change the dosage of this medicine without talking to your doctor
  • Do not allow the tip of the container to touch your eye or areas around your eye
  • It may become contaminated with bacteria that can cause eye infections that may lead to serious damage of the eye, or even loss of vision

If you use more DORTAS

  • If you use more DORTAS, you should contact your doctor immediately

If you forget to use DORTAS

  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as possible
  • However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule
  • Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop using DORTAS

  • DORTAS should be used every day to work properly
  • contact your doctor before you stop using this medicine

  • increased tear production
  • inflammation or infection of the eye
  • bitter taste sensation

  • swelling of the iris (the colored part of the eye) which may cause blurred vision and seeing dark spots that appear to float across the eye or possible flashing lights (iridocyclitis)

  • allergic reactions such as itchy or sudden rash, sudden swelling of the eye, eyelid, lips, tongue, face, hands or throat which may cause difficulty in breathing and wheezing
  • excessive painful redness of the skin, large blisters, skin peeling off in sheets, bleeding of the lips, eyes, genitals or mouth accompanied by fever
  • sudden loss of vision
  • a large decrease in the pressure of the eye, which can lead to eye problems such as loss of vision or the vision may become distorted
  • dizziness
  • irritation of the eyes which may cause redness and eye pain
  • difficulty in focusing on distant objects (myopia) which normally resolves when treatment is stopped
  • swelling of the front layer of the eye which you may notice as blurred
  • vision possibly with appearance of halos around objects (corneal oedema)
  • nose bleed
  • throat irritation

  • Keep this medicine out of the reach children
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
  • DORTAS should be used within 28 days after the bottle is first opened
