What CLONATE F is used for?

  • It is used to help reduce the redness and itchiness of certain skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, dermatitis and other skin conditions
  • It is used to treat conditions where the skin is infected by germs (bacteria), such as impetigo, infected dermatitis and spots, infected cuts and grazes

Talk to your doctor before using this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to Clobetasol propionate and Fusidic acid or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have psoriasis or acne
  • have any other skin problem
  • skin blisters or sores that are caused by an infection
  • If you do use CLONATE F when breast-feeding, do not use it on your breast area to ensure that the baby does not accidentally get CLONATE F in their mouth
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • CLONATE F is not recommended in children under 1 year of age
  • Use on children should be limited to 5 days and reviewed weekly
  • CLONATE F has no influence on your ability to drive or use machines

Tell your doctor if you are taking, or have recently taken any other medicines, including

  • ritonavir used to treat HIV
  • itraconazole used to treat fungal infections
  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Usually, you should use this medicine three or four times each day
  • CLONATE F is only for use on the skin
  • Do not put it inside your body
  • Check the seal is not broken before you first use CLONATE F
  • Always wash your hands before and after using CLONATE F
  • Rub the medicine gently on the skin
  • If you use it on your face, be careful to avoid contact your eyes
  • If you accidentally get any medicine in your eye, wash it out with cold water straight away
  • Do not use for more than 4 weeks without talking to your doctor. If you need treatment for a long time, your doctor may decide you need to use milder ones
  • Do not apply on broken or damaged skin or within the skin folds

Like all medicines, CLONATE F can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • generalized rash, or your skin becomes swollen during treatment
  • difficulty in breathing
  • face or throat swelling
  • skin develops a severe rash
  • a feeling of burning, pain, irritation or itching
  • skin thinning, stretch marks may develop
  • blood vessels under the surface of your skin may become more noticeable
  • itching
  • rash
  • eczema
  • conjunctivitis
  • hives
  • skin swelling
  • blistering of the skin
  • increased weight
  • moon face, rounding of the face
  • obesity
  • skin thinning, wrinkling or skin dryness
  • changes to the color of your skin
  • increased body hair
  • hair loss/lack of hair growth/damaged looking hair
  • worsening of condition
  • rash or hives
  • acne
  • delayed weight gain
  • slow growth
  • a decrease in the level of the hormone cortisol in your blood
  • increased levels of sugar in your blood or urine
  • high blood pressure
  • cloudy lens in the eye (cataract)
  • increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma)
  • weakening of the bones through gradual loss of mineral (osteoporosis)
