INTRODUCTION

CLOGEN contains Clotrimazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-fungals. It is used in the treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis and used as prophylaxis to prevent the incidence of oropharyngeal candidiasis in immunocompromised patients by conditions that include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or steroid therapy utilized in the treatment of leukemia, solid tumors or renal transplantation.

Oropharyngeal candidiasis (oral thrush) is a fungal infection affecting the mouth and throat which appears like white patches on the cheeks, mouth, tongue, throat, redness, soreness, loss of taste and pain during swallowing. Your doctor may initiate the treatment with CLOGEN when confirmed by a KOH smear or culture test prior to the treatment.

CLOGEN is not recommended for use in patients who are allergic to clotrimazole and in patients with systemic mycoses (fungal infection affecting the internal organs) including systemic candidiasis (fungal infection affecting the skin or mucous membrane).

CLOGEN should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment and your doctor may check your liver function test regularly during and after treatment with this medicine. It should be used with caution in pregnant women only if clearly advised by the doctor.

CLOGEN is not recommended for use in children (below 3 years of age) due to lack of safety and effectiveness and should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor if you experience any unusual side effects.

USES OF CLOGEN

  • Prevents and treat fungal infections of the mouth and throat (oropharyngeal candidiasis)

HOW CLOGEN WORKS

CLOGEN acts by specifically inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol and other sterols (enzyme) required for cell membrane production, therefore it inhibits the division and growing of fungi eventually leading to cell death, which further prevents fungal growth.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take CLOGEN as advised by your physician. Do not crush, chew or swallow the medicine immediately after placing in the mouth. It should be slowly and completely dissolved in the mouth.
