    Introduction About CARISOMA 350MG TABLET

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET contains Carisoprodol which belongs to the group of medicines called Skeletal muscle relaxants. CARISOMA 350MG TABLET is used in adults to relieve discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions, which are disorders that affect muscles, bones, and/or joints in affected individuals.

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Carisoprodol. It is also not recommended for use in patients suffering from acute intermittent porphyria (a rare metabolic disorder).

    Before taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you suffer from reduced CYP2C19 activity (enzyme responsible for drug metabolism), and/or have kidney problems (such as renal impairment), or liver problems (such as hepatic impairment).

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary since there is no extensive information on its effect on pregnant women. It is also advised to be used with caution in breastfeeding women since the medicine may pass through breastmilk.

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 16 years) as it is not evaluated in this age group. It is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) after consulting the doctor.

    The most common side effects of taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET are drowsiness, dizziness, and/or headache. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET works by altering the intraneuronal activity of the spinal cord and descending reticular formation (system that brings messages to and from the motor nerve cells of the spinal cord) which leads to relaxation of muscles thus providing relief from musculoskeletal conditions in affected individuals.

    How to use CARISOMA 350MG TABLET

    Take CARISOMA 350MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of CARISOMA 350MG TABLET

    Common

    • dizziness
    • headache
    • drowsiness

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Dizziness:

    Try to rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Limit consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.

    Headache:

    If CARISOMA 350MG TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or becomes severe, then consult and inform your doctor.

    Pregnancy

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary since there is no extensive information on its effect on pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Breastfeeding

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary since the medicine may pass through breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines after taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET since it may cause sedative effects which may impair your ability to drive/operate machines.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET since it may cause sedative effects. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Kidney

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems such as renal impairment. Consult your doctor taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET.

    Liver

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems such as hepatic impairment. Consult your doctor before taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take CARISOMA 350MG TABLET if you are allergic to Carisoprodol, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    CARISOMA 350MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • suffer from acute intermittent porphyria (a rare metabolic disorder)

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking CARISOMA 350MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • CNS depressants (used to manage insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, seizures) such as benzodiazepines (Ex. chlordiazepoxide, clorazepate), opioids (Ex. fentanyl, oxycodone), tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, amoxapine)
    • meprobamate (used to relieve nervousness/tension)
    • omeprazole (used to manage gastric and duodenal ulcers)
    • fluvoxamine (used to manage obsessive compulsive disorder)
    • rifampin (used to manage tuberculosis)
    • St. John’s Wort (herbal medicine used to manage depression)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of CARISOMA 350MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The symptoms of overdosage are CNS/respiratory depression, low blood pressure, fits, confusion, perceiving things that are not there, involuntary muscle contractions, rapid uncontrolled eye movements, blurred vision, pupil dilation, intense excitement, muscular incoordination, rigidity, and/or headache.
