What CARFILNAT 60MG is used for?

  • It is used to treat adult patients with multiple myeloma (cancer of plasma cells) who have had at least one previous treatment for this disease

[CHILDADOLESCENTS]
  • Do not drive or operate or drive any machines while taking this medicine as it may cause fatigue, dizziness, fainting or drop in blood pressure
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, which includes any medicines obtained without a prescription, such as vitamins or herbal remedies, especially if you are taking medicines used to prevent pregnancy such as oral contraceptives or other hormonal contraceptives
  • This medicine will be given to you by a doctor or nurse

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • chest pain, shortness of breath, swelling of feet, heart problems
  • cough (dyspnea), rapid breathing, wheezing, lung toxicity
  • swollen ankles, feet or hands, loss of appetite, passing less urine
  • fever, chills or shaking, joint or muscle pain, facial flushing or swelling, weakness, high and low blood pressure, fainting, chest tightness, or chest pain
  • unusual bruising or bleeding
  • leg or arm pain or swelling (blood clots in the deep veins of the leg or arm)
  • yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice), abdominal pain or swelling, nausea or vomiting
  • headache, confusion, seizures (fits), visual loss, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES)
  • pneumonia
  • respiratory tract infection
  • low white blood cell count (decrease the ability to fight infection associated with fever)
  • tiredness and fatigue (low red blood cell count)
  • decreased blood levels of potassium, increased blood levels of sugar or creatinine
  • decreased appetite, difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • dizziness, numbness, tingling or decreased sensation in hands or feet
  • dehydration
  • constipation
  • muscle weakness, itchy, redness and rash of the skin
  • increased sweating, pain, swelling, irritation or discomfort at the site of injection
  • ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • inflammation of the colon
  • reduced blood flow to the heart
  • pain behind the breastbone (pericarditis)
  • fluid build-up in the lining of the heart (pericardial effusion)
  • very dark urine and very pale stools
  • perforation of the digestive system
