INTRODUCTION

CANDIDOX CREAM contains Ciclopirox which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungals. It is indicated for the topical treatment of fungal skin infections like tinea pedis (infection of the feet causing itchy, scaly rash), tinea cruris (fungal infection involving genital areas, inner thigh and characterised by red, itchy, ring-shaped rashes) and tinea corporis (fungal infection of the trunk, arms and legs).

It is also used to treat candidiasis or moniliasis (fungal infection of the skin, mouth, throat, gut and vagina), tinea (pityriasis) versicolor (a fungal infection causing lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms or legs).

CANDIDOX CREAM should be used during pregnancy only if it is considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

CANDIDOX CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

The most common side effects of using CANDIDOX CREAM are itchiness, mild burning sensation or redness. Contact your doctor if any of the above symptoms worsen.

USES OF CANDIDOX CREAM

It is used for the topical treatment of the following fungal skin infections:

  • tinea pedis, tinea corporis and tinea cruris
  • candidiasis or moniliasis
  • tinea (pityriasis) versicolor

HOW CANDIDOX CREAM WORKS

CANDIDOX CREAM is a broad-spectrum antifungal medication that works by inhibiting or killing a wide range of fungi that causes infections. Thus, helps to treat fungal infections effectively.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always use CANDIDOX CREAM as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply CANDIDOX CREAM into the affected and surrounding skin areas with clean hands and let it dry in the air, do not apply a covering on it.

SIDE EFFECTS OF CANDIDOX CREAM

COMMON

  • itchiness, mild burning sensation or redness

RARE

Stop using CANDIDOX CREAM and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • severe itching, redness, burning, dryness
  • irritation of treated skin
  • change in colour of nails
  • sensitivity (allergic reaction) or chemical irritation

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Itchy skin:

Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if the itching worsens.

CANDIDOX CREAM should be used during pregnancy only if it is considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

BREASTFEEDING

CANDIDOX CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether this medicine is passed into breast milk. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

ALLERGY

Do not use CANDIDOX CREAM if you are allergic to ciclopirox or any other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

Use in pediatrics:

The safety and effectiveness of CANDIDOX CREAM in children below 10 years of age have not been established. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before using CANDIDOX CREAM, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • topical steroids (medicine used to reduce skin inflammation and irritation)
  • medicines used to treat fits or seizures

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally used or took too much of CANDIDOX CREAM, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
