Betnovate N Cream is a prescription topical medicine that combines betamethasone valerate 0.1%, a potent corticosteroid, with neomycin sulfate 0.5%, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic. It is primarily used to treat steroid-responsive inflammatory skin conditions that are accompanied by, or at risk of developing, a bacterial infection. The cream helps reduce redness, swelling, itching, and irritation while simultaneously controlling susceptible bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, localized psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), contact dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and insect bite reactions when secondary bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed.  

Betnovate N Cream is most suitable for adults and children only when prescribed by a healthcare professional, particularly those with inflamed, itchy skin lesions complicated by bacterial infection. The cream should be applied as a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, gently rubbed into clean, dry skin, and used for the shortest duration necessary, generally not exceeding 14 days unless advised otherwise by a doctor. It is intended for external use only and should not be applied to the eyes, mouth, inside the nose, or on large areas of broken skin. Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings unless specifically instructed, as this may increase absorption of the corticosteroid and the risk of side effects.

Patients should use Betnovate N Cream exactly as prescribed and discontinue use if symptoms worsen, signs of allergy develop, or there is no improvement after the recommended treatment period. Use the cream exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, usually once or twice daily, and avoid using more than the recommended amount or for a longer duration than advised.
• After application, wash your hands unless they are the area being treated. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nose, and other mucous membranes. Do not apply the cream to large areas of skin, broken skin, or under airtight dressings unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider.
• If you are using other topical medications, follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the order and timing of application. Continue using Betnovate-N Cream for the full prescribed course, even if your symptoms improve earlier. If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not apply extra cream to make up for the missed application.

Overdose

Symptoms may include skin thinning, stretch marks, irritation, delayed wound healing, adrenal suppression (with prolonged excessive use), or allergic reactions. If the cream is accidentally swallowed or a significant overdose is suspected, seek immediate medical attention or contact a poison control center.
