What BETNESOL is used for?

It is indicated for the treatment of:

  • bronchial asthma
  • severe hypersensitivity reactions
  • skin allergies
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • systemic lupus erythematosus
  • inflammatory skin disorders
  • ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease
  • hemolytic anemia (autoimmune)
  • immunosuppression in transplantation

Talk to your Doctor if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have systemic infections
  • have live virus immunization
  • have history of tuberculosis
  • have history of chickenpox or herpes zoster
  • have congestive heart failure
  • have diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, hypertension, glaucoma and epilepsy
  • have previous steroid myopathy or peptic ulceration
  • If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Your doctor will give you the right dose based on the child’s age and body weight

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • Medications used to treat myasthenia gravis
  • salicylates and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (used to treat pain)
  • phenytoin, phenobarbitone (used to treat epilepsy)
  • ephedrine  
  • rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis)
  • anti-coagulants (used to prevent blood clot)
  • estrogens (hormonal drugs)
  • glucocorticoids
  • ritonavir, cobicistat (used to treat HIV/AIDS)
  • itraconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you

If you take more BETNESOL

  • If you have taken more than prescribed, contact your doctor, or go to nearest hospital immediately
  • Symptoms of overdosage: hypercortisolism

 If you forget to take BETNESOL

  • Take your medicine as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until that is due and then continue as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking BETNESOL

  • Don’t stop taking this medicine without advice from your doctor

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very Rare

prolonged treatment may lead to:

  • subcapsular cataract, skin thinning, osteoporosis, and glaucoma
  • retarded growth in children
  • hypercortisolism
  • aseptic osteonecrosis
  • peptic ulceration
  • benign intracranial hypertension and psychic instability
