Introduction About B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS)
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) contains Mecobalamin which belongs to the group of medicines called Vitamins. B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is used to manage diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage caused by diabetes), peripheral neuropathy (peripheral nerve damage that affects hands, feet and arms) and megaloblastic anaemia (blood disorder) caused by vitamin B12 deficiency in affected individuals.
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is also used to manage sciatica pain (leg pain), back pain and general weakness in affected individuals.
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is not recommended for use in patients allergic to mecobalamin and/or other B12 containing medicines.
Before receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS), inform your doctor if you have Leber's disease (inherited form of vision loss) and/or suffering from low potassium level (with associated signs such as muscle twitches/cramps, low blood pressure), optic nerve disease (swelling and nerve damage to the eyes), kidney and/or liver problems.
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in breastfeeding women. It should be used with caution in children & adolescents (aged 6 months to 18 years) and in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) are headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, skin rash and/or hot flushes. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsens.

- Manage diabetic and peripheral neuropathies
- Manage megaloblastic anaemia (caused by vitamin B12 deficiency)

How B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) Works
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) works by aiding in the synthesis of myelin (lipid rich material that covers nerve fibres) which helps in protecting the nerve fibres and thereby providing relief from diabetic & peripheral neuropathy, sciatica pain and back pain in affected individuals. It also promotes nucleic acid synthesis in the bone marrow which helps in the maturation and division of erythroblasts thus managing poor production of red blood cells and thereby improving megaloblastic anaemia in affected individuals.
How to use B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS)
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous injection or into the muscle as an intramuscular injection. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS)
Common
- headache
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite
- skin rash, hot flushes.
Rare
Stop receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of severe allergic reaction such as wheezing, chest tightness, fever; itching, bad cough, blue/grey skin colour, seizures, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat and/or swelling/pain in the leg/arm.
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
If B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS). If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.
Nausea and vomiting:
Receive B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. Talk with your doctor if the condition worsens.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom gets worse.

Pregnancy
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS).
Breastfeeding
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS).
Kidney
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) should be received with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Liver
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) should be received with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
Allergy
Do not receive B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) if you are allergic to mecobalamin, other B12 containing medicines and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
Before receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS), inform your doctor if you:
- have Leber's disease (inherited form of vision loss)
- have signs of low potassium level in blood such as muscle twitches/cramps, low blood pressure, faintness and/or excessive urination/thirst
- are suffering from optic nerve disease (swelling and nerve damage to the eyes).
Use in Paediatrics:

Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before receiving B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS), inform your doctor if you are receiving any of the following medicine:
- neomycin (used to prevent/manage bacterial skin infections)
- amino salicylic acid (used to manage tuberculosis)
- histamine H2-antagonists (used to manage recurrence of duodenal ulcers) Ex. ranitidine, famotidine
- colchicine (used in the management of gout)
- oral contraceptives (used to manage pregnancy) Ex. ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone
- chloramphenicol (used to manage bacterial infections)
- cimetidine (used to manage ulcers of stomach and intestines)
Overdosage:
B 29 AQ 1500MCG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
