INTRODUCTION

AVIL 25MG contains Pheniramine which belongs to a group of medicines called Antiallergic agents. It is used to treat allergic conditions such as hay fever, drug rashes, angioneurotic oedema, serum sickness, allergic conjunctivitis, food allergy and conditions of the respiratory tract that are accompanied by increased secretion. It also prevents and treats motion sickness, nausea, vomiting and vertigo due to Menière’s disease and other labyrinthine disturbances. Pheniramine provides relief from runny nose, sneezing, congestion, itching, and watery eyes.

Pheniramine is an antihistamine which works by blocking certain natural substances (histamines) that cause allergic symptoms. It also relieves eye redness, puffiness, itching, and watering that commonly occur with allergies.  

Before taking AVIL 25MG, tell your physician if you have any allergic reactions such as asthma, narrow angle glaucoma, liver, kidney or heart problems. Consult your doctor for advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine is not suitable for use in children below 5 years of age. The common side effects are drowsiness or sleepiness. It is advised to avoid alcohol while on treatment.

HOW AVIL 25MG WORKS

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take AVIL 25MG as instructed by your doctor. Swallow whole with plenty of water and do not crush or chew. Do not take the medicine on an empty stomach.

PREGNANCY

AVIL 25MG should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks, including those to the fetus.

BREASTFEEDING

There are no available data on the presence of AVIL 25MG in human milk, hence it should be used during breastfeeding only if the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks, including those to the breastfed child.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or handle any machines if you experience drowsiness while taking this medicine.

ALCOHOL

AVIL 25MG should be cautioned against the simultaneous ingestion of alcohol. Consult your doctor for advice.

KIDNEY

There is limited information available on the use of AVIL 25MG in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

AVIL 25MG is metabolized in the liver and dose adjustments should be considered in patients with severe hepatic disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Tell your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Pheniramine.

HEART DISEASE

AVIL 25MG should be used with caution in patients with severe cardiovascular disease and close monitoring will be required. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Inform your physician before taking this medicine if you have or had,

  • symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy
  • narrow angle glaucoma
  • asthma

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • MAO-inhibitor therapy
  • hypnotics, sedatives, tranquilizers
  • CNS depressants
  • atropine
