AVANAIR 100 contains Avanafil which belongs to the group of medicines called Phosphodiesterase type5 (PDE 5) inhibitors. It is used in adult men for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. HOW AVANAIR 100 WORKS
AVANAIR 100 blocks phosphodiesterase enzyme in the body and releases chemical called nitric oxide, which helps to relax the smooth muscles and blood vessels supplying the inner part of penis. This increases the supply of blood flow to the penis which helps to obtain and maintain an erect penis when an individual is sexually excited. This medicine works only if you are sexually stimulated.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:

Stomach upset/discomfort:

Tiredness:

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

ALCOHOL
Avoid consuming alcohol while taking AVANAIR 100 as there is a chance of developing unwanted symptoms like increased heart rate, decrease in blood pressure, dizziness, and headache. It may also decrease your ability to get an erection. Consult your doctor for advice.
KIDNEY
AVANAIR 100 is not recommended for use in patients suffering from serious kidney diseases and in patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LIVER
AVANAIR 100 is not recommended for use in patients suffering from serious liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take AVANAIR 100 if you are allergic to avanafil or any other phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5) (Ex. Sildenafil).
HEART DISEASE
AVANAIR 100 is not recommended for use in patients having heart rate disturbances which may cause cardiac arrest (sudden unexpected loss of heart function, consciousness and breathing), heart attack, chest pain (angina), variation in blood pressure or if you had a heart attack in past 6 months that will disturb your intercourse. AVANAIR 100 should be used with caution in patients having heart troubles which may be risky for them to have sexual intercourse. Consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
AVANAIR 100 is not recommended for use if you have:
- hereditary eye diseases (degenerative retinal disease)
- loss of vision in one eye because of loss of blood flow to the optic nerve (non-arteritis anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)]
Before taking AVANAIR 100 inform your doctor if you have:
- physical conditions that affect the shape of the penis
- bleeding disorders or peptic ulcers
- erection that lasts for more than 4 hours (priapism)
Use in pediatrics:
AVANAIR 100 is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (less than 18 years of age).
Use in geriatrics:
AVANAIR 100 should be used in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) after consulting the doctor. Consult your doctor for advice.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug – drug interactions:
Before taking AVANAIR 100 inform your doctor if you are taking the following medicines:
- medicines used to treat chest pain (Ex. nitrates like glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide dinitrate)
- medicines used to treat HIV infections (Ex. ritonavir, indinavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir, amprenavir or atazanavir)
- medicines to treat fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole, fluconazole)
- medicines used to treat bacterial infections (Ex. azithromycin, erythromycin, clarithromycin)
- medicines used to treat high blood pressure (Ex. terazosin, doxazosin, verapamil)
- medicines used to treat irregular heartbeat (Ex. quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone or sotalol)
- medicines used to treat fits (Ex. carbamazepine, phenobarbital or primidone)
- aprepitant (used to prevent or treat nausea caused by chemotherapy)
- riociguat (used to treat pulmonary hypertension)
B. Drug – Food interactions:
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice within 24 hours prior to taking AVANAIR 100 as it may increase the risk of side effects.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of AVANAIR 100, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
