ASSURANS contains Sildenafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which brings down blood pressure in the lungs. It is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the blood vessels in the lungs). Sildenafil decreases the activity of (phosphodiesterase type 5) PDE5, so that more cyclic GMP (guanosine monophosphate) is available for the blood vessels inside the lungs. This leads to relaxation and widening of the blood vessels in the lungs decreases the pulmonary blood pressure to the heart and improves its function.
Always take this ASSURANS exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems and if you are a pregnant women or breastfeeding mother. It is not recommended for use in children below 1 year of age. Do not drink grapefruit juice while you are being treated with this medicine. The common side effects are headache, diarrhoea and vomiting and facial flushing.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has directed you. Swallow medicine whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:
Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks.Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, greasy, or sweet foods.
ASSURANS is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
ASSURANS should be used with caution as it may pass into breast milk at very low levels and would not be expected to harm the baby. Consult your doctor for advice.
ASSURANS may cause dizziness or affect your vision. Do not drive or handle any machines while taking this medicine.
ASSURANS should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
ASSURANS is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Sildenafil.
ASSURANS is not recommended if you had a stroke, heart attack or any other severe heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
