What is AMLODAC D Tablet used for?

AMLODAC D Tablet is used as a substitution treatment in hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who are already taking separately Amlodipine Besylate and Indapamide tablets.

AMLODAC D Tablet may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How does AMLODAC D Tablet work?

  • Amlodipine Besylate belongs to a group of medicines known as calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine Besylate prevents the calcium from moving into the blood vessel wall thereby preventing tightening of blood vessel walls. This reduces the blood pressure and improves symptoms of chest pain.
  • Indapamide belongs to a group of medicines known as thiazide-type diuretics. Diuretics are medications which cause increase water removal from body as urine. Indapamide increases the excretion of sodium and chloride from the kidney, thereby increasing the urine output, which leads to a decrease in the blood pressure.

AMLODAC D Tablet together helps in the reduction of blood pressure.

How to take AMLODAC D Tablet?

  • The dosage of oral tablets of AMLODAC D Tablet depends on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take AMLODAC D Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
  • You must swallow the tablet with a glass of water. Do not chew the tablet.
  • Take your daily dose at same time (preferably at breakfast).
  • Do not take the tablet with grapefruit juice (it can lead to increase in amlodipine concentration which would increase the lowering of the blood pressure).
  • AMLODAC D Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescent under 18 years of age.
  • Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
  • If you miss a dose of AMLODAC D Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

If you have taken an overdose of AMLODAC D Tablet, please contact your doctor immediately.

Symptoms of overdose may include the following:

  • Nausea, vomiting, cramps
  • Dizziness, confusion
  • Changes in quantity of urine passed
  • Fast or slow heart rate
  • Hypotension
  • Cold clammy skin, fainting, becoming unconscious (shock)
