    Introduction About AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION

AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION contains Levetiracetam, which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticonvulsants. It is used to manage epilepsy (seizures). Epilepsy is a disorder in the central nervous system in which the brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures (fits) or unusual sensations, behaviours, and sometimes loss of consciousness.

AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION is also used in combination with other antiepileptic medicines to manage partial onset seizures with or without generalization (abnormal activity involving one side of the brain), myoclonic seizures (short, shock-like jerks of a muscle or involving a group of muscles), juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (myoclonic seizures in adolescents from 12 years of age), primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (major fits that include loss of consciousness), and idiopathic generalized epilepsy (type of epilepsy that is thought to have a genetic cause).

Along with the management with AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION, your doctor may suggest you make some lifestyle changes such as healthy eating and sleeping habits, managing stress, and exercising or meditating regularly. Prior to starting the management with AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION, your doctor might ask you to take some diagnostic tests. Before taking AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart diseases. AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION should be used with caution in pregnant women and not recommended for use in breast-feeding women.

AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 16 years of age; however, it can be used in combination with other medicines. Consult with your doctor before taking. Some of the serious side effects of AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION include thoughts of self-harming. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice symptoms of depression or suicidal thoughts.

The most common side effects of taking AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION are inflammation of the nose and throat, sleepiness, dizziness, lethargy, anorexia, depression, anxiety, vertigo, cough, and nausea. Contact your doctor if you experience these above side effects or worsen.

    How AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION Works

AMENDO 500MG SUSPENSION acts on the brain and modifies the release of certain nerve chemicals. Brain cells communicate with each other using electrical signals and chemicals. When there is any disturbance in this communication, seizure (fits) happens. Levetiracetam combines with a protein (SV2A) present in the central nervous system and inhibits the release of abnormal nerve chemicals (neurotransmitters). This does not affect the normal brain communication.
