INTRODUCTION
ORNOF is a combination of Ornidazole and Ofloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. ORNOF is used in children to treat various bacterial infections involving the blood (such as septicemia), brain (such as meningitis), lungs (such as pneumonia, bronchitis), ear and nose (such as sinusitis), urinary tract (such as cystitis), genital infections (including both the male and female genital organs), wound (post-operative infections) and stomach (such as peritonitis).
ORNOF is also used as prophylaxis to prevent bacterial infections during surgical interventions (particularly involving the colon and in gynaecological operations).
Before initiating the treatment with ORNOF to your child, your child’s doctor may recommend your child to take relevant medical tests to understand the existing condition and to properly use this medicine.
Before giving ORNOF to your child, inform your child’s doctor if your child have heart disease (such as irregular heartbeat, valve disorder, poor heart function), kidney diseases (such as kidney failure or kidney injury), inflammation of the intestine, fits/seizure, autoimmune disease (such as multiple sclerosis), weak tendons (tendonitis, tendon rupture, rotator cuff), liver disease, psychiatric illness or emotional imbalances.
ORNOF is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and elderly individuals as it is used only in children.
The common side effects of taking ORNOF are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, itching and changes in taste sensation. Consult your child’s doctor immediately if any of the side effects worsen during or after treatment with ORNOF.

HOW ORNOF WORKS
ORNOF is a combination of Ornidazole and Ofloxacin where Ornidazole kills parasites and bacteria that live in the absence of oxygen by generating harmful molecule which damages the DNA of the parasites and bacteria and ofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial DNA, hence ORNOF helps to treat various infections.
