Most women envision having a smooth, blemish-free, radiant skin, but rarely does it become a reality since most of them are plagued with different types of skin issues. And one such common skin problem that is often misconstrued as acne or eczema due to similar symptoms is Rosacea.
What Is Rosacea, You Ask?
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that is chiefly characterized by the reddening of the skin or rose-like appearance of the face typically around the cheeks and nose. Although, it is mainly noticed in fair-skinned people, yet even dark to medium skin toned people have this and it gradually becomes prominent with growing age.
The redness of the face mainly happens due to the dilation of blood vessels, triggering more blood to rush to the surface of the skin. A lot of factors attribute to rosacea including extreme sunburn, sudden changes in temperature, allergic reactions to facial products, exhausting exercises, menopausal symptoms, over-exfoliation of the skin, spicy food, beverages like alcohol, hot drinks or caffeine or strong emotions like anxiety, stress, and anger and even genetic factors. It is usually characterized by thickening and stinging of the skin, the appearance of broken blood vessels, facial flushing, large open pores, and dry patchy skin and small, rough bumps around the eyes and cheek.
Although some might go for oral medications and anti-inflammatory soothing gels and creams, but if you have a preference for natural remedies and a fetish for trying out DIY skin care regimens, we bring you 3 easy-peasy facial masks to soothe inflamed skin and manage the symptoms of rosacea right at home.
