Rivaroxaban is used to treat and prevent blood clots in the veins of your legs (deep vein thrombosis) and in the blood vessels of your lungs (pulmonary embolism). It is used to prevent blood clots in brain (stroke) and other blood vessels in your body in adults with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (a form of irregular heart rhythm). It is also used to prevent blood clots in adults who have undergone hip or knee replacement surgery.
Rivaroxaban: Antithrombotic agents
Rivaroxaban works by competitively inhibiting factor Xa (a blood clotting factor) and thus reducing the tendency of the blood to form clots.
