FAQs About ZO D
Q: What is the use of ZO D?
A: ZO D is a prescription medicine used to manage inflammation and/or infection of the eyes and ears. It also helps in reducing pain, redness, itching, and/or burning or stinging sensations in the eyes or ears following surgery.
Q: How long does it take for ZO D to work?
A: It may take around 10–15 minutes for ZO D to start showing its effects. However, this period may vary from person-to-person depending on the dose that is administered.
Q: How does ZO D work?
A: ZO D contains two medicines, namely, betamethasone and ofloxacin. Betamethasone is a steroid medication. It blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that cause inflammation, redness, and swelling. When applied topically to the eyes or ears, it reduces redness, soreness, pain, itching, and swelling. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. When applied topically to the eyes or ears, it kills the susceptible bacteria that cause infection. Collectively, this medicine reduces inflammation and infection of the eyes and ears.
Q: Can the use of ZO D cause blurred vision?
A: Yes. ZO D may cause blurred vision after application in some individuals, although not everybody gets them. If your vision becomes blurry, close your eyes for some time and rest. Do not strain your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops, or televisions. Avoid driving or operating any heavy tools or machines while your vision is blurry. Consult your doctor if you experience blurred vision for a prolonged period.
Q: Can I use other eye medicines while using ZO D?
A: Avoid concomitant use of any eye medicines while using ZO D without consulting your doctor.
Q: How do I use ZO D?
A: Use ZO D as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Instil few drops of this medicine into the affected eyes or ears. Repeat the same for the other eye or ear, if required.
Q: What are the side effects of ZO D?
A: The most common side effects of using ZO D are temporary burning sensation and blurring of vision, headaches, dizziness, slowing growth, and taste changes. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.
Q: Can I use ZO D while wearing contact lenses?
A: If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying ZO D and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Q: Can I use ZO D without consulting my doctor?
A: No. ZO D is a prescription medicine that should be used only if prescribed by the physician. It is because ZO D contains a steroid medicine, which may cause harmful side effects when used without proper medical supervision. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice.
Q: Can I drive while using ZO D?
A: Do not drive if you experience blurred vision after using ZO D.
Q: What if I miss a dose of ZO D?
A: If you missed a dose of ZO D, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and use the regular dose. Do not use a double dose of ZO D to compensate for the missed dose.
Q: Can I stop using ZO D?
A: No. Do not stop using this medicine without consulting your doctor, as it may make your symptoms reappear. Therefore, use this medicine consistently for the duration instructed by your doctor to achieve better results.
