Introduction About VFEND 200MG TABLET
VFEND 200MG TABLET contains Voriconazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungal agents. It is used to manage various fungal infections (such as invasive aspergillosis, candidaemia, invasive Candida sp. infections) in both adults and in children (aged 2 years or above). It can also be used to manage fungal infections in high-risk bone marrow transplant recipients.
VFEND 200MG TABLET should be taken at least 1 hour before or after meals. It is highly intended for patients with worsening or life-threatening fungal infections. It is important to complete the full course of therapy with VFEND 200MG TABLET to achieve better control over infection.
Before taking VFEND 200MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or heart problems. Do not take VFEND 200MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breast-feeding without consulting your doctor.
Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with VFEND 200MG TABLET. During management with VFEND 200MG TABLET, avoid exposing your skin towards direct sunlight. Wear protective loose-fitting clothes and apply sunscreen while going outdoors.
The most common side-effects of taking VFEND 200MG TABLET are visual impairment, fever, rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, swelling of the extremities, stomach pain and breathing difficulties. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect troubles you.

VFEND 200MG TABLET is an antifungal medication. It effectively controls fungal infections within the body. It disrupts the fungal cell membrane by blocking the production of certain chemicals (ergosterol) within the cell which is required for its survival. As a result, it stops the fungal cell from multiplication, thereby managing the further spread of infection.
How to use VFEND 200MG TABLET
Take VFEND 200MG TABLET 1 hour before or after meals or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking VFEND 200MG TABLET without consulting your doctor.
Side Effects Of VFEND 200MG TABLET
Common
- vision problems (such as blurred vision, colour changes, light sensitivity)
- fever, chills, weakness
- headache, dizziness, sleepiness

Uncommon
- enlarged lymph glands
- problems in adrenal gland
- underactive thyroid gland
- feeling shaky
- abnormal sense of taste
- hearing difficulties, vertigo, ringing in the ears
- increased blood cholesterol and urea levels
Rare
Stop taking VFEND 200MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of allergic reactions (such as severe skin rash with itching, blistering and peeling of the skin, mouth, eyes, throat, genitals, swelling of the face and tongue, bleeding under the skin causing appearance of red-pin point dots on the skin, skin swelling, along with fever, tiredness, confusion or jaundice)
- skin rashes, sun burn
- bone pain, inflammation of the tissue surrounding the bone
- skin cancer
- red, scaly patches or ring-shaped skin lesions
- jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eye)
- signs of adrenal insufficiency (such as severe tiredness, weak muscles, loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach pain)
- signs of Cushing’s syndrome (such as round face, weight gain, fatty hump between the shoulders, dark skin, skin thinning, easy bruising, high blood sugar levels, excessive hair growth and excessive sweating)
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea or vomiting:
Try to take VFEND 200MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals and avoid oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

Pregnancy
VFEND 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with VFEND 200MG TABLET.

Breastfeeding
VFEND 200MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience vision problems after taking VFEND 200MG TABLET.

Liver
VFEND 200MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Allergy
Do not take VFEND 200MG TABLET if you are allergic to Voriconazole or to any other azole antifungal agents (such as fluconazole, ketoconazole).

Heart Disease
VFEND 200MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (such as cardiomyopathy, irregular or slow heart rate, prolong QT interval). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
Use in paediatrics:
