    Introduction About VANKING 1000 INJECTION

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION is used for the management of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of methicillin-resistant (beta-lactam-resistant) staphylococci bacteria. It is used for the management of endocarditis as well as is used for the management of hospital acquired pneumonia, infections of skin and tissues below skin, bone and joints (involves osteomyelitis, arthritis, spinal infections etc with symptoms of pain, fever, chills, swelling in joints). Also, it is used to manage central nervous system infection (meningitis, abscess, brain enlargement with symptoms of headache, fever, mood changes) and blood caused by bacteria. VANKING 1000 INJECTION is also used to manage infections in patients who are allergic to the medicines containing penicillin and cephalosporins. It contains Vancomycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Glycopeptide antibiotics that works by managing cell wall formation of infection causing bacteria by blocking the enzymes responsible for it.

    Before receiving VANKING 1000 INJECTION, your doctor will do few blood tests to determine the exact cause of infection. It should be used only to manage infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. VANKING 1000 INJECTION is not recommended in patients who have hypersensitivity to vancomycin.

    Before receiving VANKING 1000 INJECTION inform your doctor if you have kidney diseases or hearing diseases. VANKING 1000 INJECTION should be used in caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving it. The common side effects of receiving VANKING 1000 INJECTION include difficulty in breathing, fall in blood pressure, redness of body and face, fever. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen with time.

    Uses Of VANKING 1000 INJECTION

    Used in adults and children: 

    • To manage endocarditis
    • Manage serious or severe infections caused by susceptible strains of methicillin-resistant (beta-lactam-resistant) staphylococci
    • Manage hospital acquired pneumonia (infection of the lungs that makes airspaces to be filled with fluid or pus with the symptoms of fever and chills, cough with phlegm or pus, headache, difficulty in breathing, tiredness)
    • Manage infections of the skin
    • Manage infections of bone and joint (includes osteomyelitis, arthritis, spinal infections etc with symptoms of pain in bones, fever with chills, swelling in joints, pain at the site)
    • Manage infections of central nervous system (such as meningitis (infection of brain), abscess, brain enlargement)

    How VANKING 1000 INJECTION Works

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION is a glycopeptide antibiotic that works by managing cell wall formation of infection causing bacteria by blocking the enzymes responsible for it.

    How to use VANKING 1000 INJECTION

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous infusion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.  

    Side Effects Of VANKING 1000 INJECTION

    Common

    • Fall in blood pressure
    • Difficulty in breathing
    • Swelling at injection site (thrombophlebitis)
    • Skin rashes with fever
    • Redness in face and body
    • Chest pain
    • Back pain
    • Whistling sound while breathing
    • Hives  
    • Itching in skin
    • Kidney diseases
    • Mucosal inflammation

    Uncommon

    • Temporary or permanent hearing loss

    Rare

    • Dizziness
    • Fever with chills
    • Nausea
    • Loose stools
    • Ringing sound in ears
    • Spinning of head
    • Inflammation of blood vessels
    • Nausea
    • Anaphylactic reactions

    Stop receiving VANKING 1000 INJECTION and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:  

    • Skin rashes, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness
    • Skin with rashes, blisters, pain along with fever
    • Occurrence of areas with redness and swelling on body along with fever (skin condition called acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis)
    • Painful red area without blister formation which spreads quickly and causes skin to peel associated with fever, chills (toxic epidermal necrolysis)
    • Occurrence of diarrhoea which may be severe or continues for a long time during (it may be a sign of bowel inflammation)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Drink plenty of water, fluids and electrolytes such as ORS and stay hydrated. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Headache

    Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. Try to be tension free and relaxed. Take adequate sleep and rest. Avoid consumption of alcohol. Apply pain balm if required. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve. 

    Injection Site Reactions

    Do not massage the affected area. Apply ice packs or cold packs at the site. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve. 

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Avoid eating fried and greasy food. Take simple, light, small meals at frequent intervals. Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated always. Inform your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Driving and Using Machines

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION has no or negligible effect on your ability to drive and use machines.

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disorder. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

    Allergy

    Do not receive VANKING 1000 INJECTION if you are allergic to vancomycin or any other ingredients of this medicine.  

    Use In Pediatrics

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION should be used with caution in with particular care in premature infants and young infants, because their kidneys are not fully developed and they may accumulate VANKING 1000 INJECTION in the blood. This age group may need blood tests for controlling vancomycin levels in blood. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Use In Geriatrics

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION is used with caution in elderly people with kidney diseases, hearing diseases and those who are undergoing dialysis. Your doctor will do blood test and hearing test during management with VANKING 1000 INJECTION. Lower dose of VANKING 1000 INJECTION is advised for elder people. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

    Before receiving VANKING 1000 INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:

    • Have hearing disorder
    • Blood disorders
    • Sensitive to any food or medicine

    A. Drug-Drug interactions: 

    • Antibiotics (Ex. streptomycin, gentamycin, amikacin, bacitracin, piperacillin, tazobactam)
    • Antituberculosis drugs (Ex. viomycin)
    • Sedative and hypnotic agent (Ex. Propofol)
    • Dissociative anesthetic drugs (ketamine)
    • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (Ex. Ibuprofen)
    • Anticancer drugs (Ex. cisplatin)
    • Antifungal drugs (Ex. Amphotericin B)  
    • Muscle relaxants drugs (Ex. atracurium, mivacurium)

    Overdosage:

    VANKING 1000 INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
