TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is used in the management of Schizophrenia and its symptoms like rapid control of agitation and disturbed behaviour when oral therapy is not appropriate. It contains Olanzapine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotics.
Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION as it can make you feel drowsy. Along with this management, your doctor might ask you to make certain lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, regular exercise and quitting alcohol. TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients previously diagnosed with eye problems like glaucoma. Before receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clotting, stroke, parkinson’s disease, prostate, intestine, heart, liver or kidney disease, diabetes, and seizures.
TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION should be used with caution among women who are pregnant. It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. This medicine is not recommended for use in children. TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is not recommended in elderly patients above 75 years of age with dementia. The most common side effects of receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION are changes in the levels of some blood cells, weight gain, sleepiness and feeling dizzy.

How TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION Works
TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION exerts its action primarily on dopamine and serotonin. It blocks the action of dopamine which leads to a decrease in symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized speech, thought, and behavior. It also blocks the action of serotonin helping in decrease of symptoms like poor speech, unable to express emotions, low motivation, and poor attention.
How to use TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION
TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the muscle in buttock region. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION
Common side effects of TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION:
- weight gain
- sleepiness
- pain at the site of injection
- increases in levels of prolactin in the blood
- changes in the levels of some blood cells
- feel dizzy (with a slow heart rate), especially while getting up from a lying or sitting position
- restlessness, tremor, unusual movements (dyskinesias)
- constipation, abdominal distension
- dry mouth
- rashes
- loss of strength, extreme tiredness, feeling more hungry
- swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet
- fever, joint pain
- sexual dysfunctions (decreased libido in males and females or erectile dysfunction in males)
- syndrome of restless legs, problems with speech (stuttering)
- memory loss or forgetfulness
- changes in breasts in males and females like an abnormal production of breast milk or abnormal growth
Stop receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- excessive sleepiness, dizziness, confusion, disorientation, difficulty talking and walking, muscle stiffness or shaking, weakness, irritability, aggression, anxiety, increase in blood pressure, or convulsions
- unusual movement of face or tongue
- blood clots in the veins, especially in the legs (swelling, pain, and redness in the legs), which may travel through blood vessels to the lungs, causing chest pain and difficulty in breathing
- a combination of fever, faster breathing, sweating, muscle stiffness and drowsiness

Pregnancy

Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedTOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it can pass through breast milk.
Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not drive and use machines after receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION as it can make you feel drowsy.
Alcohol
ContraindicatedDo not drink alcohol while receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION as it can make you feel drowsy.
Kidney
Use with CautionTOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.
Liver
Use with CautionTOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
Allergy
ContraindicatedBefore receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you are allergic to Olanzapine or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
Use with CautionTOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with heart disease, heart attack, sick sinus syndrome (abnormal heart rhythms), unstable angina or low blood pressure.
Use In Pediatrics
ContraindicatedTOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Use In Geriatrics
Consult your doctorTOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is not recommended for elderly patients above 75 years of age, especially patients with dementia. It should be used with caution in patients above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor before receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION.
Others
TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if you:
- have an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, a swollen face, swollen lips or shortness of breath
- have been previously diagnosed with eye problems such as certain kinds of glaucoma
- have dementia (especially in elderly patients)
Before receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:
- or your family has a history of blood clots or blood disorders
- have stroke/mini stroke (temporary symptoms of stroke)
- have Parkinson’s disease
- have prostate problems
- have blocked intestine
- have diabetes
- have seizures
- may have salt depletion because of prolonged severe diarrhea and vomiting
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before receiving TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- diuretics
- antidepressants
- tranquillizers
- benzodiazepines
- Parkinson’s disease (Ex. carbamazepine, fluvoxamine)
- Antibiotics (Ex. ciprofloxacin)
Overdosage:
TOLAZ LA 210MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, if you experience any unusual symptoms like rapid beating of the heart, agitation, problems with speech, unusual movements (especially of the face or tongue), reduced level of consciousness, acute confusion, seizures. contact your doctor immediately.
