Introduction About TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION
TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION contains temozolomide, which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-neoplastic agents. It is used for various tumours of brain and spinal cord. TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION is used for a newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (an aggressive tumour occurring in the brain and spinal cord) and refractory anaplastic astrocytoma (a type of malignant brain tumour). It is also used for melanoma (skin cancer) and various brain metastases (spread of cancer to other parts of the body) from solid tumours.
TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION is not recommended to be injected if you are allergic to temozolomide and/or dacarbazine and/or any other ingredient present in this medicine. TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION is also not recommended for pregnant and nursing mothers. It is recommended to exercise caution while injecting TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION to patients diagnosed with kidney and liver disorders.
The common side effects experienced after receiving TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION are upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache, along with altered levels of blood cell count, liver enzymes, and nerve dysregulations. It is recommended to consult a doctor if the side effects do not improve and/or worsen with time.
Uses Of TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION
It is used for:
- A newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (an aggressive tumour occurring in the brain and spinal cord)
- Refractory anaplastic astrocytoma (malignant brain tumours)
- Brain metastases from solid tumours
- Melanoma (skin cancer)
How TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION Works
TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION works by showing anti-tumour activity. It crosses the blood-brain barrier and works against tumours originating in the brain. This medicine acts on the cells of the tumours and causes apoptosis of the tumour. In addition, it also shows the immunomodulatory effects, which are used for brain cancer.
How to use TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION
TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse. Your doctor will administer the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
Side Effects Of TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION
Common
- Reduction in red and white blood cell count and platelets
- Edema
- Abnormal weakness
- Fever
- Malaise
- Weight loss
- Hair loss
- Pruritis (itch), rash formation
- Anorexia (eating disorders leading to extreme weight loss)
- Constipation
- Dehydration
- Diarrhea
- Nausea, vomiting
- Upset stomach

- Motor nerve disorder affecting upper and lower limbs (motor neuropathy)

- Blood clot in the blood supplying vessels; pulmonary embolism

How To Manage Side Effects
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Take an adequate amount of rest and sleep. Stay hydrated and replenish yourself with electrolytes. Also, do not indulge in driving and using heavy machinery, as it may prove to be dangerous.
Headache
Stay hydrated and take as much rest as possible. Stay away from harsh lights and loud sounds. Apply a pain-relieving balm to the forehead. If headache persists or worsens, consult your doctor.
Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating heavily rich or spicy food. Stay hydrated. Consult your doctor if it persists for long or worsens with time.
Weakness
Stay hydrated and also maintain an adequate intake of electrolytes throughout the day. Also, take a nutrient-rich diet and healthy calories to sustain the energy throughout the day.

If TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION is used during pregnancy, or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this medicine, the patient should be apprised of the potential hazard to a fetus. Women of childbearing potential should be advised to avoid becoming pregnant during therapy with TEMZOL 100MG INJECTION.
Breastfeeding
