    Introduction About SANDIN 100MG TABLET

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET contains a medicine Mebendazole which belongs to a group of medicines called Anthelmintics. It is used to manage threadworms (also called as pinworms) and other common worm infections of the gut (Ex. whipworm, roundworm, hookworm).

    Initially, symptoms of gut worms may be mild or non-existent, but infections can lead to diarrhoea, stomach pain, weakness, anaemia (low red blood cells) and nutritional problems. You must consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days of management.

    Before taking SANDIN 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any allergies or if you are taking any other medicines. SANDIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use among pregnant women and should only be used under medical supervision in breastfeeding women.

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (under 2 years of age), therefore, consult your child’s doctor for advice. The most common side effect of taking SANDIN 100MG TABLET is stomach pain. Call your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse.

    Uses Of SANDIN 100MG TABLET

    Manages gut infections like:

    • Threadworms (also called as pinworms) or
    • Other common worm infections (Ex. whipworm, roundworm, hookworm)

    How SANDIN 100MG TABLET Works

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET interferes with cell formation in the worm and causes structural damage in its intestine. As a result, its glucose uptake and the digestive and reproductive functions are disturbed, leading to immobilization, inhibition of egg production and death of the worm.

    How to use SANDIN 100MG TABLET

    Take SANDIN 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. You can crush it before giving it to a young child.

    For Tablet: Swallow SANDIN 100MG TABLET with a glass of water.

    For Chewable Tablet: Chew SANDIN 100MG TABLET before swallowing.

    Your doctor will decide a proper dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and type of worm infection. Continue to take SANDIN 100MG TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.

    Side Effects Of SANDIN 100MG TABLET

    Common

    • stomach pain

    Uncommon

    • stomach discomfort, diarrhea
    • wind
    • nausea, vomiting

    Rare

    • rash
    • inflammation of the liver or altered liver function
    • reduced white blood cells (reducing body’s defense against infections)
    • unusual hair loss
    • dizziness

    Stop taking SANDIN 100MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • allergic reaction (sudden swelling of your face or throat, unexplained wheezing, shortness of breath, hives)
    • skin rashes (including peeling or blistering of your skin), itching, fever
    • convulsions (fits) in infants

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Take SANDIN 100MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

    Diarrhea:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

    Dizziness:

    Lie or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. If you're feeling severe episode of spinning (vertigo), lie in a dark and quite place with eyes closed. Try to avoid vehicle driving. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET should be used in breastfeeding women only under medical supervision. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy after taking SANDIN 100MG TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take SANDIN 100MG TABLET if you are allergic to Mebendazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    Use in Pediatrics:

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (aged under 2 years). It should be used in children aged 1-2 years only under medical supervision and if there are no suitable alternatives. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking SANDIN 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • metronidazole (used to manage bacterial and protozoal infections)
    • cimetidine (used to reduce excess stomach acidity)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of SANDIN 100MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are hair loss, liver or kidney problems, change in white blood cell count.

    If you miss a dose of SANDIN 100MG TABLET, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip that dose if the time for the next dose is closer. Do not take SANDIN 100MG TABLET two times to make up for the missed dose.

    Can SANDIN 100MG TABLET be used to manage tapeworm infection?

    Yes. SANDIN 100MG TABLET can be used to manage intestinal tapeworm infections. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and type of worm infection.

    Is SANDIN 100MG TABLET safe in breastfeeding?

    Ask your doctor for advice before taking SANDIN 100MG TABLET if you are a breastfeeding mother. It should only be used during breastfeeding under medical supervision.

    Does SANDIN 100MG TABLET affect gut bacteria?

    SANDIN 100MG TABLET might affect gut bacteria. Gut bacteria diversity is increased after certain infections and it is peaked after administration of this medicine. Consult your doctor for further queries.
