Introduction About RETAREL CREAM
RETAREL CREAM contains Retapamulin which belongs to a group of medicine called Antibiotics. It is used to manage an infection called impetigo. Impetigo is a common and highly contagious bacterial skin infection that mainly affects infants and young children (affects the nose, lips, or other areas of the face, but it may also affect other areas of the body).
RETAREL CREAM should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in children below 9 months of age. The most common side effects are mild itching, skin irritation, and headache. Inform your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

How RETAREL CREAM Works
RETAREL CREAM works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria (Staphylococcus and Streptococcus) on the skin by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
How to use RETAREL CREAM
Always apply RETAREL CREAM as advised by your doctor. It is for external use only. Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer on it and rub it gently. Wash your hands before and after use unless you are applying it on the hand.
Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. Avoid sharing personal items such as towels, washcloths, or razors with other people if you are infected with impetigo. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of RETAREL CREAM
Common
- mild itching, mild burning, stinging
- skin irritation
- headache
Rare
Stop applying RETAREL CREAM and contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the following side effects:
- allergic reaction (symptoms such as rash, hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, severe dizziness)
- severe burning, itching, redness, swelling, blistering, oozing skin, or other skin irritation
- new infection symptoms such as new/worsening sores, fever
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead if required. Consult your doctor if the symptom do not improve.

RETAREL CREAM should be used with caution in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby. Consult your doctor for advice.
Breastfeeding
RETAREL CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor for advice.

Do not apply RETAREL CREAM if you are allergic to Retapamulin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before applying RETAREL CREAM inform to your physician if you are taking of the following medicines:
- antifungal medicine (Ex. ketoconazole) to manage fungal skin infections
- antiviral medicine (Ex. zanamivir) to manage viral infections, fever
- other antibiotics (Ex. amoxicillin)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally apply too much of RETAREL CREAM, consult your doctor immediately.
