    Introduction About REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE

    REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE contains Doxercalciferol which belongs to the group of medicines called Vitamin D2 analogs. It is used for secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis with stage 3 or stage 4 chronic kidney disease.

    During management, your doctor will normally arrange for regular blood tests to ensure REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE is working properly. REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with liver disease, bone disease and high calcium levels. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. Safety and effectiveness of REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE in pregnant and breastfeeding women has not been established yet. Inform your doctor before taking REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE.

    The most common side effects of taking REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE are acid or sour stomach, belching, burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, or tingling feelings, difficulty in moving, excessive muscle tone, heartburn, indigestion, muscle pain, stiffness, tension, or tightness, pain in the joints, pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones, stomach discomfort or upset, stuffy or runny nose, swelling, trouble sleeping and weight loss. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    Uses Of REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE

    • Used to manage overactive thyroid gland (secondary hyperthyroidism) in adult patients with Stage 3 or Stage 4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and adult patients with CKD on dialysis

    How REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE Works

    REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE contains Doxercalciferol which works by reducing the synthesis and secretion of a hormone called parathyroid hormone by the thyroid gland (a gland located in the throat that produces thyroid hormone and helps to regulate growth and metabolism).

    How to use REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE

    Take REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition. Do not stop taking REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE without informing your doctor.

    Side Effects Of REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE

    Common

    • acid or sour stomach
    • belching, burning
    • crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, or tingling feelings
    • difficulty in moving, excessive muscle tone
    • heartburn
    • indigestion
    • muscle pain, stiffness, tension, or tightness

    • confusion
    • cough or hoarseness
    • decreased urination
    • fast or irregular heartbeat
    • fever or chills
    • frequent urge to urinate
    • increase in heart rate
    • lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
    • lower back or side pain
    • nausea
    • painful, burning, or difficult urination
    • pale skin
    • sore throat
    • sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
    • sunken eyes
    • sweating
    • swollen glands
    • thirst
    • trouble breathing
    • unusual bleeding or bruising
    • unusual tiredness or weakness
    • wrinkled skin

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Indigestion

    Eat smaller and more frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. If the indigestion does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Stomach Discomfort

    Take REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE with a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.

    • have vitamin D toxicity
    • have hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in blood)

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • calcium supplements
    • cholestyramine (used to lower cholesterol levels)
    • erythromycin (used to manage infections)
    • ketoconazole (used to manage infections)
    • laxatives
    • phenobarbital (used to relieve anxiety)
    • other forms of vitamin D
    • antacids containing magnesium (used to manage gastrointestinal problems)
    • digoxin (used for heart health)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more REDISPAR 2.5MCG CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage may cause feeling tired, difficulty thinking clearly, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, increased thirst, increased urination and weight loss.
