Introduction About REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR contains Diazepam which belongs to the group of medicines called Benzodiazepines. REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR helps you to fall asleep and it can also have a calming effect. It is also indicated as a premedication to calm anxious patients before management such as dental extractions and to sedate patients in intensive care units.
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is used to control prolonged seizure activity (status epilepticus). It is also used to control muscle spasms and spasticity caused by certain neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy, athetosis (involuntary movements), stiff-man syndrome (body stiffness) and in tetanus. REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is also used in the management of alcohol withdrawal syndrome including agitation, tremors, delirium tremens and hallucinosis.
Avoid alcohol, grapefruit juice, caffeinated drinks while taking REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR as it may lead to unwanted effects.
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe respiratory failure, or chronic obstructive airways disease or have weakness of your chest muscles, phobia, myasthenia gravis, liver disease, sleep apnoea (severe breathing difficulty during sleep), porphyria, acute narrow angle glaucoma and open angle glaucoma. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR should be used with caution in patients with history of alcoholism or drug abuse or dependence, severe kidney problems, depression, self-harming thoughts, epilepsy, arteriosclerosis, heart problems, psychosis, schizophrenia. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in pregnant women. REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as it may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before receiving.
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age as its safety is not established. REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR should be used with caution in elderly patients above 60 years of age due to increased risk of falls and fractures. Consult your doctor before receiving.
The most common side effects of receiving REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR are drowsiness, fatigue, loss of muscle coordination (ataxia) and other movement disorders, tremor, confusion, venous thrombosis, and inflammation at the site of injection Consult your doctor in case any of side effects worsens.

REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR belongs to benzodiazepines works by calming the brain and nerves by increasing the level of a chemical called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a naturally occurring inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain.
How to use REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenously or intramuscularly. Your doctor will administer the exact dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR
Common
- drowsiness, fatigue
- loss of muscle coordination (ataxia) and other movement disorders, tremors
- confusion
- venous thrombosis and phlebitis at the site of injection
Uncommon
- muscles weakness
- memory loss
- difficulty in concentration
- headache
- dizziness
- nausea, vomiting
- constipation, diarrhoea
- increased salivation
- slurred speech
- difficulty in maintaining balance
- itching, skin, redness, rashes and swelling
Rare
- behavioural changes (most seen in children and elderly patients) such as excitation, agitation, restlessness, irritability, aggressiveness, memory loss, inappropriate behaviour, delusion, rages, psychoses, nightmares, or hallucinations
- depression
- difficulty sleeping
- low blood pressure, fainting
- dry mouth
- gynecomastia (breast enlargement in males)
- impotence, changes in sexual drive
- increase in appetite
- loss of bladder control, lack of ability to urinate
- slow heartbeat, heart failure and ceasing of heartbeat
- increased mucus secretion in lungs
- changes in liver enzymes
- blood disorders which may lead to infections, nose bleeds, sore throat
- emotional withdrawal
- decreased alertness
Stop receiving REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR and consult your doctor immediately in case you experience:
- rash, swelling of your lips, tongue and throat or body causing sudden wheezing, fainting or difficulties to swallow.
- respiratory depression such as very slow or shallow breathing.
- respiratory arrest (cessation of breathing)
- jaundice (yellowish discolouration of the skin and whites of eye)
- restlessness, delusion, psychosis, anxiety, hyperexcitation, disorientation, nervousness, hostility, anger, panic, aggression, hallucinations, increased muscle spasticity, insomnia, rage, nightmares, abnormal dreams, sleep problems, stimulation, hyperactivity, inappropriate behaviour
How To Manage Side Effects
Itchy skin:
Avoid taking hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin and do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when going outdoors or use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the skin and contact your doctor if itching persists.
Nausea or Vomiting:
Receive the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if nausea and vomiting worsen.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of water and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if constipation persists.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea and contact your doctor if diarrhoea worsen.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if needed. Do not consume alcohol and contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate machinery if you feel dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it aggravates dizziness. Contact your doctor if dizziness worsen.

Pregnancy

Breastfeeding
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before receiving.

Driving and Using Machines
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR causes sleepiness, forgetfulness, impaired concentration, impaired muscle function, poor coordination, dizziness which can affect your driving ability. Do not drive or operate machines after receiving REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR.

Alcohol
Do not consume alcohol while receiving REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR as it increases the sedative effect of REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR and make you very sleepy.

Kidney
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney failure. Consult your doctor before receiving.

Liver
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in patients suffering from liver disease. Consult your doctor before receiving.

Allergy
Do not receive REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR if you are allergic to Diazepam, other benzodiazepines, lactose, or other ingredients of medicine.

Lungs
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in patients with severe respiratory failure, or chronic obstructive airways or have weakness of your chest muscles. Consult your doctor before receiving.

Heart Disease
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR should be used with caution in patients suffering from heart problem. Consult your doctor before receiving.
Others
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use if you have:
- phobia, obsessive behaviour, a personality disorders or other mental illness
- myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness)
- sleep apnoea syndrome
- porphyria (a rare blood disorder)
- acute narrow angle glaucoma and open angle glaucoma
Before receiving REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR inform your doctor if you have:
- depression (with or without anxiety)
- epilepsy or fits
- arteriosclerosis (a narrowing of the blood vessels)
- self-harming thoughts
Use in pediatrics:
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age as its safety and efficacy is not yet established. Consult your doctor before receiving.
Use in geriatrics:

- halothane, isoflurane (medicines used during surgeries)

B. Drug-Food interaction:
Avoid consuming grapefruit juice as it may increase REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR levels in blood. Do not consuming caffeinated drinks while taking REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR as it may reduce the effect of REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR.
Overdosage:
REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms. Symptoms of mild overdose of REC DZ 5MG RECTAL APPLICATOR include drowsiness, oversedation, lethargy, hypnotic state, nystagmus (rapid eye movements), mental confusion.
