Introduction About PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION contains Benzathine penicillin which belong to the group of medicine called Antibiotics. It is used in adults, children and neonates for the management of wide range of bacterial infections such as erysipelas (infection of upper layer of the skin), syphilis (bacterial infection usually spread by sexual contact), tropical infectious skin diseases, such as yaws or pinta.

It is also used to manage rheumatic fever (disease that affect heart, brain, joints and skin) and post streptococcal glomerulonephritis (a specific form of kidney inflammation) and erysipelas (skin infection).

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION is not recommended for use if you have ever had an allergic reaction (skin rash or swelling of the face or neck) to any antibiotic. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used with caution in patients suffering from lung problems such as allergic asthma, allergy, hay fever, kidney, liver problems. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used with caution in children and in elderly patients. The most common side effect of receiving this medicine is fungal infection (candidiasis), diarrhea, nausea. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

To manage bacterial infections such as:

• erysipelas
• syphilis
• tropical infectious skin diseases like yaws and pinta

To manage bacterial infections such as:

• rheumatic fever

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION is a penicillin antibiotic works by killing the bacteria (germs) which cause infections. Thus, managing the bacterial infection effectively.

How to use PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse as an injection into the muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects

Nausea and vomiting:

Receive this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.

Skin rash:

Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhoea did not improve.

Pregnancy

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.

Breastfeeding

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Breast-feeding should be stopped in the case of occurrence of diarrhoea, candidosis (fungal skin infection) or rash in the child.

In infants also being fed on baby food, mothers should express and discard breast milk during management with this medicine. Breast-feeding can be resumed 24 hours after finishing> management. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.

Driving and Using Machines

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION can impair responsiveness and the ability to drive due to the occurrence of possible serious side effects (Ex. anaphylactic shock with collapse and allergic like reactions and stomach upsets). Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.

Kidney

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney problems and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.

Liver

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver problems and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.

Allergy

Do not receive PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION if you are allergic to benzathine penicillin or to penicillin’s or to peanut or soya or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Lungs

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION should be used with caution in patients suffering from lung problems such as allergic asthma. Consult your doctor before receiving this medicine.

Interactions

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before receiving PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

• probenecid (used to manage gout)
• methotrexate (used for cancer)
• anticoagulants Ex. warfarin (used to thin the blood)

       Overdosage:

PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or nurse in a hospital and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, if you experience any unusual symptoms such as muscle spasms or fits, contact your doctor immediately.

Although it is common to feel better early in the course of therapy, the medication should be used exactly as directed. Skipping doses or not completing the full course of therapy may decrease the effectiveness of the management and increase the likelihood that bacteria will develop resistance and will not be manageable by PENIDURE LA 12LAC INJECTION or other antibacterial drugs in the future.
