    Introduction About PEGLEC POWDER

Peglec Powder is a bowel cleanser that is used to cleanse the bowel prior to colonoscopy, colorectal surgery and barium meal X-ray examination. It contains polyethylene glycol and electrolytes like sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and anhydrous sodium bisulphite as active ingredients.

Polyethylene glycol is a powerful laxative. It softens the stools by drawing in more water from the intestines. This helps in emptying colourless, watery bowels. The electrolytes present in the medicine manages dehydration and other serious side effects that may be caused due to fluid loss as the colon is emptied.

The recommended dosage for adults is one pack of Peglec Powder.  Peglec Powder should be used only under medical supervision. Empty the content of the sachet into 1 litre of clean drinking water and stir well to dissolve it. Pour another litre of water into the mixture to make it to 2 litres. To improve the taste, one of the flavouring agents provided with the pack can be added along with the mixture.

Pour one glass of the prepared mixture and drink. Repeat drinking 200 ml every 10-15 minutes such that 1 litre of the mixture is consumed within one hour. The first bowel can occur approximately one hour after the prepared mixture is consumed. Continue drinking the Peglec solution until the stool turns watery and colourless or slightly yellow in colour without any solid matter. Before using Peglec Powder inform your doctor if you have any gut problems as a precaution.
