    Introduction About NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET contains Naproxen, which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to relieve pain in the muscles, joints, and tendons problems such as strains, gout, ankylosing spondylitis (pain and stiffness in the neck and back), migraine headache, or arthritis (painful one or more joints with swelling) in adults. It can also ease pain in painful heavy periods, bleeding due to insertion of an intrauterine device in women, and rheumatoid arthritis in children.

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients who have ever had history of asthma or allergies (hay fever) or have had swelling of the face, lips, eyes or tongue, liver, kidney problems, patients with blood vessel problems anywhere in your body, problems in the way your blood clots, suffer from localized swelling, high blood pressure or heart failure problems, had a stroke or heart problem earlier, or think that you might be at risk of these conditions.

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with serious liver and kidney problems and heart failure. Consult your doctor for advice.

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding and pregnant women in the last three months of pregnancy, as it can harm your baby. Consult your doctor for advice.

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in children over 5 years of age and elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    The common side effects of taking are heartburn, indigestion, constipation, stomachache, feeling sick or being sick, and gaseous bowels. Talk to your doctor about if any of the side effects get worse.

    Uses Of NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET

    It is used to relieve pain in the following conditions:

    • muscles, joints, and tendons problems such as strains, gout, ankylosing spondylitis (pain and stiffness in the neck and back), or arthritis
    • painful heavy periods and bleeding due to the insertion of an intrauterine device (women)
    • migraine headache
    • rheumatoid arthritis (children)

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET blocks the release of a substance called prostaglandin in the body. Prostaglandins are responsible for the signs of inflammation, such as pain and fever. This anti-inflammatory action is useful in the reduction of pain, stiffness, swelling, and fever connected with inflammation.

    How to use NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET

    Take NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET

    Common

    • heartburn and dyspepsia (indigestion)
    • nausea
    • sore mouth or mouth ulcers
    • abdominal pain
    • constipation
    • headache, dizziness
    • fits or seizures
    • bruising, itching, sweating, skin being more sensitive to the sun, or hair loss
    • changes in eyesight (eye pain)
    • hearing loss and ringing in the ears
    • fluttering feeling in the heart 
    • thirst, fever, feeling tired, or generally unwell
    • swelling of your hands, feet, or legs
    • difficulty breathing, including shortness of breath, wheezing, or coughing

    Uncommon

    • kidney problems
    • vomiting
    • skin rashes
    • mental confusion and possibly hearing things that are not there

    Rare

    • depression
    • fits or seizures
    • pneumonia or swelling of your lungs
    • feeling of numbness in hands and feet
    • high levels of blood potassium, which can cause abnormal heart rhythm

    Stop taking NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of allergic reactions (sudden swelling of your throat, face, hands, or feet, difficulty breathing, tightness in your chest, skin rashes, blisters, or itching)
    • signs of stomach or gut problems (bleeding from the stomach, seen as blood in vomit or bits that look like coffee grounds, anal bleeding seen as black sticky bowel motions (stools) or bloody diarrhea ulcers or holes formed in your stomach or gut, seen as upset stomach, stomach pain, fever, feeling or being sick)
    • signs of pancreas problems (severe stomach pain that reaches up to your back)
    • aggravated signs of ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease (pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and weight loss)
    • severe skin rashes (develop with blisters or peeling of your skin and mouth, throat, or eyes, fever, headache, cough, and body ache occur at the same time)
    • blistering of skin when exposed to sunlight, seen mostly on arms, face, and hands
    • yellowing of skin or eyes, feeling tired, loss of appetite, feeling or being sick, and pale-coloured stools
    • signs of stroke (muscle weakness and numbness, which is seen on one side of your body)
    • signs of meningitis (a sudden altered sense of smell, taste, hearing, vision, or confusion)
    • signs of systemic lupus erythematosus (fever, feeling or being sick, stiff neck, headache, sensitivity to bright light, and confusion)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If the constipation does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if the diarrhea worsens.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Sit down or lie down slowly when you are feeling dizziness. Take a rest for some time and drink plenty of water. Avoid coffee and other carbonated drinks. If the symptoms do not improve, contact your doctor.

    Headache

    Try to rest and relax. Apply pain balm to the head to ease off the pain. Sip on some hot water or ginger tea. If the headache does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take this medicine along with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals and avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. If the nausea and vomiting do not improve, contact your doctor.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the stomach pain does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Allergy

    NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have an ulcer or bleeding from the stomach or duodenum (in the first part of the small intestine), or if you had suffered from it earlier
    • are suffering or have ever suffered from bleeding in the stomach or intestines while taking NSAIDs

    Before taking NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have an autoimmune condition
    • have colitis or Crohn's disease
    • have a feeling of weakness
    • have lumps in the nose
    • have sneezing or a runny, blocked, or itchy nose (rhinitis)
    • are on a low-salt diet and had digestive problems earlier

    Before taking NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • other medicines used to relieve pain (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac, and paracetamol)
    • medicines used to manage blood clotting (Ex. aspirin/acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin, heparin)
    • clopidogrel or ticlopidine
    • medicine that increases urination, such as diuretics (Ex. furosemide)
    • medicines used in management of high blood pressure (Ex. propranolol, enalapril, cilazapril)
    • medicine used to manage heart problems (Ex. digoxin)
    • medicines used in the management of swelling and inflammation (Ex. hydrocortisone, prednisolone, and dexamethasone)
    • medicine used in the management of gout (probenecid)
    • medicines used in the management of mental illness (Ex. lithium, fluoxetine, or citalopram)
    • medicines used in the management of epilepsy (Ex. phenytoin and hydantoin)
    • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. hydrochlorothiazide, acetazolamide, indapamide, sulphonamide, ciprofloxacin, or moxifloxacin)
    • medicines used in the management of diabetes (Ex. glimepiride or glipizide)
    • medicines used in the management of high blood pressure and heart failure (Ex. candesartan, eprosartan, or losartan)
    • medicines that manage transplant rejection after surgery (Ex. ciclosporin or tacrolimus)
    • methotrexate (medicine used in management of skin conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer)
    • cholestyramine (medicine that reduces cholesterol)
    • zidovudine (medicine used to manage AIDS and HIV infections)
    • mifepristone (medicine that induces abortion to end pregnancy)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of NAPROSYN 500MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are drowsiness, heartburn, indigestion, nausea, or vomiting.
