    INTRODUCTION ABOUT MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION contains Micafungin which belongs to the group of medicine called Antifungal agents. It is used to manage systemic fungal infections such as invasive candidiasis. It can also be used in managing fungal infections of the food pipe where management with an injection is considered appropriate.

    It also helps in managing fungal infections among patients who have undergone bone-marrow transplantation and in patients who are risk of developing neutropenia (low WBC count in blood).

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION should be used under careful medical supervision. Make sure to take the full course of the therapy to achieve better control over infection. Failure or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.

    Talk to your doctor before receiving MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if have anemia or any other blood related problems as a precaution. MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. It should be used in pregnant women only if considered necessary by the physician.

    The most common side effects of receiving MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION are pain and swelling at the site of injection, headache, loss or disturbed taste sensation, tiredness, fever, chills, shortness of breath, diarrhea, stomach pain and high or low blood pressure. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

    USES OF MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION

    • Manage and manages fungal infections (both systemic and non-systemic)

    HOW MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION WORKS

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION is an antifungal medication. It acts by blocking the actions of certain cellular proteins (beta-glucan) which is essential for the fungal cell to maintain the rigid cell structure. As a result, it makes the fungal cells weak and fragile and eventually destroys them.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of infection.

    SIDE EFFECTS OF MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION

    COMMON

    • low RBC, WBC and platelet counts in blood
    • low blood potassium, magnesium and calcium levels
    • headache
    • pain and inflammation at the injection-site
    • nausea, vomiting
    • diarrhoea, stomach pain
    • liver problems, increased levels of bile pigment in the blood
    • increased heart rate, high or low blood pressure
    • increased blood urea levels

    UNCOMMON

    • low albumin levels in blood
    • increased sweating
    • low sodium and phosphate levels in blood
    • high blood potassium levels
    • anorexia (eating disorder)
    • insomnia (trouble sleeping)
    • anxiety, confusion
    • tiredness, shakiness, dizziness
    • loss or disturbed taste sensation
    • shortness of breath
    • constipation
    • jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes)
    • problems in bile circulation (cholestasis)
    • skin rash, itching and flushing
    • kidney problems, edema

    Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION:

    • severe skin reactions (such as widespread skin rash, blistering, peeling or bleeding on any part of the skin with fever, chills, enlarged lymph nodes and malaise or pink or reddish skin lesions on palms or soles)

    HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

    Application Site Reactions

    Place an ice pack on the injected site. Do not move the affected area frequently. If the symptom worsens, consult your doctor.

    Constipation

    Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

    Headache

    Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals and avoid oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.

    DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

    Use with Caution

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION is unlikely to affect your ability for driving and using machines. However, it may cause slight dizziness among few people. Therefore, do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if your ability is affected by this medicine.

    KIDNEY

    Use with Caution

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

    LIVER

    Use with Caution

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with severe liver problems. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.

    ALLERGY

    Inform your doctor before receiving MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Micafungin or to any other ingredients of this medicine.

    USE IN PEDIATRICS

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.

    USE IN GERIATRICS

    Use with Caution

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION can be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.

    OTHERS

    Before receiving MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:

    • have hemolytic anemia (low RBC count in blood)
    • have hemolysis (breakdown of RBCs)

    INTERACTIONS

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before receiving MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • sirolimus (a medicine used to manage rejection of organ transplant or cause immune system suppression)
    • antifungal antibiotics (used for fungal infections) such as Amphotericin B, desoxycholate or itraconazole
    • nifedipine (a medicine used to manage high blood pressure)

    Overdosage:

    MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, if you are worried that you may have been given too much of MICEDGE 50MG INJECTION, contact your doctor immediately.
