Introduction About INLYTA 1MG TABLET
INLYTA 1MG TABLET contains Axitinib which belongs to the group of medicines called Kinase inhibitors. It manages advanced kidney tumour in adults, when another medicine (called sunitinib or a cytokine) is no longer stopping disease from progressing.
INLYTA 1MG TABLET works by reducing the blood supply to the cancer cells and slows down the growth of cancer. Avoid consumption of grapefruit during treatment with INLYTA 1MG TABLET.
Before taking INLYTA 1MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, have had a recent problem with blood clots in your veins and arteries including stroke, heart attack, embolism, or thrombosis, thyroid gland problems, bleeding problems, aneurysm, liver problem or have an operation or an unhealed wound.
INLYTA 1MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children (aged below 18 years) unless advised by the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking INLYTA 1MG TABLETare diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, stomach ache, indigestion, soreness of the mouth, tongue or throat, and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How INLYTA 1MG TABLET Works
INLYTA 1MG TABLET targets and inhibits specific enzymes (kinases) involved in the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) that cancer cells need to grow. By blocking these enzymes, it helps to starve the cancer of nutrients and slows its progression.
How to use INLYTA 1MG TABLET
Take INLYTA 1MG TABLETas advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of INLYTA 1MG TABLET
Common
- High blood pressure
- Diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, stomachache, indigestion, soreness of the mouth, tongue or throat, constipation
- Shortness of breath, cough, hoarseness
- Lack of energy, feeling weak or tired
- Redness and swelling of the palms of the hands or soles of the feet (hand-foot syndrome), skin rash, dryness of the skin
- Joint pain, pain in hands or feet
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss
- Headache, taste disturbance or loss of taste
- Dehydration
- Kidney problems
- Flatulence (wind), haemorrhoids, bleeding from gums, bleeding from the rectum, a burning or stinging sensation in the mouth
- Muscle pain
- Nose bleeding
- Skin itching, redness of the skin, hair loss
- Ringing/sound in the ears (tinnitus)
- Swelling of the abdomen, legs, or ankles, protruding neck veins, excessive tiredness, shortness of breath (signs of heart failure events)
- Fistula
- Dizziness
- Inflammation of the gall bladder
Stop taking INLYTA 1MG TABLETand contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- Heart failure events (excessive tiredness, swelling of the abdomen, legs, or ankles, shortness of breath, or protruding neck veins)
- Blood clots in your veins and arteries (types of blood vessels), including stroke, heart attack, embolism, or thrombosis (symptoms such as chest pain or pressure; pain in your arms, back, neck or jaw; shortness of breath; numbness or weakness on one side of your body; trouble talking; headache; vision changes or dizziness.)
- Bleeding (symptoms of black tarry stools, coughing up of blood or bloody sputum, or change in your mental status)
- Hole in the stomach or intestine or formation of fistula
- Severe increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis), severe headache, or severe chest pain.
- Reversible swelling of the (symptoms such as headache, confusion, seizures (fits), or changes in vision with or without high blood pressure)
How To Manage Side Effects
Constipation
Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Fiber adds bulk to the stool and helps it move through the digestive tract. Aim for a daily intake of 25-30 grams of fiber.
Diarrhea
Drink plenty of fluids such as water, oral rehydration solutions (ORS), or clear broths to prevent dehydration. Avoid caffeinated, alcoholic, and sugary drinks, as they can worsen dehydration.
Nausea And Vomiting
Try to take INLYTA 1MG TABLETwith or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Skin rash Or Itching
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Stomach Pain
Use a heating pad or a warm water bottle on your abdomen to help relax muscles and reduce pain. Drink clear fluids like water or herbal teas (such as ginger or peppermint) to stay hydrated and soothe your stomach.

Pregnancy
ContraindicatedINLYTA 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women or if you are planning to have a baby as it can harm the unborn child. Use a reliable method of contraception and up to 1 week after the last dose of INLYTA 1MG TABLET, to prevent pregnancy.
Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedINLYTA 1MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding. If you are breast-feeding, your doctor should discuss with you whether to discontinue breast-feeding or discontinue INLYTA 1MG TABLET.
Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not drive or use machines while taking INLYTA 1MG TABLETas you may feel tired or dizziness.
Liver
Use with CautionINLYTA 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not take INLYTA 1MG TABLET if you are allergic to Axitinib.
Heart Disease
Use with CautionINLYTA 1MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (stroke, heart attack, embolism, or thrombosis) and high blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking INLYTA 1MG TABLET.
Use In Pediatrics

- Antifungals (Ex. ketoconazole or itraconazole)
- Antibacterials (Ex. clarithromycin, erythromycin or telithromycin)
- Anti-HIV agents (Ex. atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir or saquinavir)
- Antidepressants (Ex. Nefazodone, St. John’s wort)
- Antituberculosis (Ex. rifampicin, rifabutin or rifapentine)
- Steroids (Ex. Dexamethasone)
- Anti-epileptics (Ex. phenytoin, carbamazepine or phenobarbital)
- Antiasthma (Ex. Theophylline)
B. Drug-Food interactions:
Do not take INLYTA 1MG TABLET with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as it may increase the chance of side effects.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of INLYTA 1MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
