Introduction About FRENIN 10MG INJECTION
FRENIN 10MG INJECTIONcontains Phenylephrine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-hypotensive agents. It is used in adults and children to relieve low blood pressure which may occur during an operation.
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with high blood pressure, overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), prostatic enlargement. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver, kidney, heart disease, diabetes mellitus. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used during pregnancy only if it is considered clearly necessary. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using it.
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children and in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before receiving it. Inform your doctor if you experience any side effects after receiving FRENIN 10MG INJECTION.

How FRENIN 10MG INJECTION Works
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION is an alpha-1 adrenergic agonist and after injection it produces peripheral vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels), leading to increased blood pressure.
How to use FRENIN 10MG INJECTION
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor as an injection into the muscle (intramuscular injection) or just under the skin (subcutaneous injection) or into a vein (intravenous injection). Your doctor will decide the correct dosage and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of FRENIN 10MG INJECTION
Rare
Stop receiving FRENIN 10MG INJECTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- serious allergic reaction (itching/rash, swelling of your face, lips or throat or difficulty in breathing/ wheeziness)
- chest pain, irregular heartbeat, feeling the heart pumping in the chest
- bleeding in the brain (speech disorder, dizziness, paralysis of one side of the body)
- psychosis (losing contact with reality)
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used during pregnancy only if it is considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in women with a history of pre-eclampsia (complicated pregnancy). Administration of FRENIN 10MG INJECTION in late pregnancy or labour may cause fetal hypoxia (decreased oxygen supply to unborn baby) and bradycardia (slow heart rate). Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Breastfeeding
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before using it.
Driving and Using Machines
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION does not affect your ability to drive or use machines. However, if you feel unwell you must contact your doctor before driving or operating machinery.
Kidney
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Liver
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver disease and may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Heart Disease
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with high blood pressure. It should be used with caution in patients with heart conditions such as ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), angina pectoris (chest pain), partial heart block, occlusive vascular disease (poor blood circulation) or aneurysms (bulging of blood vessels) and serious heart failure. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Others
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if:
- you have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
- you have prostatic enlargement
- the anterior chamber of your eye is shallow
- you have a history of acute increase of eye pressure (acute narrow-angle glaucoma)
Before receiving FRENIN 10MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if:
- you have diabetes mellitus
- you have diabetic autonomic neuropathy (a complication of diabetes mellitus)
- you have arteriosclerosis (hardening and thickening of the walls of the blood vessels)
- you have poor blood circulation in the brain
- you have closed-angle glaucoma (increased eye pressure)
Use in pediatrics:
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Use in geriatrics:
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before receiving FRENIN 10MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines used for depression (Ex. amitriptyline, iproniazid, nialamide, moclobemide, toloxatone, imipramine, milnacipran or venlafaxine)
- medicines used to manage high blood pressure, heart problems (Ex. atenolol, bisoprolol, lisinopril, furosemide, quinidine, losartan, spironolactone, nifedipine, reserpine, guanfacine, labetalol, guanethidine, digoxin)
- general anesthetics Ex. propofol, desflurane, enflurane, halothane, isoflurane, methoxyflurane, sevoflurane (medicines used in anesthesia)
- medicines used to manage attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Ex. atomoxetine
- antimuscarinics (Ex. atropine) to manage slow heart rate
- lithium (used to manage depression or aggression)
- steroids (used to manage inflammatory conditions) Ex. hydrocortisone
- ergot alkaloids such as methylergonovine maleate (used to manage or manage bleeding from the uterus)
- oxytocin (used to induce labor)
- alpha adrenergic antagonist Ex. doxazosin (used to manage benign prostate hypertrophy)
- phosphodiesterase Type 5 inhibitors Ex. sildenafil (used to manage erectile dysfunction)
- benzodiazepines (used to manage anxiety and panic disorders) Ex. alprazolam
- medicine used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. linezolid)
- medicines used to manage migraine (Ex. dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methylergometrine, methylsergide)
- medicines used to manage Parkinson disease (Ex. bromocriptine, lisuride, pergolide)
- medicine used to inhibit the production of a hormone responsible of lactation (Ex. cabergoline)
- medicine used as an appetite suppressant (Ex. sibutramine)
Overdosage:
FRENIN 10MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms like headache, nausea, vomiting, high blood pressure, a fast or irregular heartbeat, confusion, a sensation of fullness in the head, tingling of the hands and feet, hallucinations and fits.
