    Introduction About FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM is a combination of Fluocinolone and neomycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids and Aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is used to manage infection, inflammation or itching manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses (skin diseases) with secondary infections and bacterial infections.

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in liver or kidney disease. FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM is generally not recommended for use in pregnancy unless considered necessary. FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether it may pass through the breast milk. FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in children. FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above).

    The most common side effects of this medicine are burning, itching redness, stinging or irritation, dryness, folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles), hypertrichosis (increased hair growth), white or pruned skin or pale patches of skin, stretch marks, pimples, rash, heat rash, change in skin colour of the managed area. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM Works

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM helps to manage pain and infection, where Fluocinolone is a Corticosteroid works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins which are responsible for pain and inflammation and neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic interferes with the protein synthesis, leading to the death of bacterial cells. As a result, it decreases inflammation and infection.

    How to use FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM

    Apply FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Wash your hands with soap and water and apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area of the skin and rub it gently. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not cover or wrap or bandage the skin unless directed by the doctor.

    Side Effects Of FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM

    Common

    • burning, itching, redness, stinging or irritation
    • dryness
    • folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles)
    • hypertrichosis (increased hair growth)
    • white or pruned skin or pale patches of skin, stretch marks
    • pimples, rash
    • heat rash, change in skin colour of the managed area 

    Rare

    Stop applying FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • severe allergic reactions such as urticaria, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing
    • difficulty in hearing or ringing ears
    • decreased urination
    • worsening your skin condition
    • redness, swelling, warmth, severe irritation or oozing of any managed skin
    • symptoms of high blood sugar such as increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odour
    • roundness of the face, muscle wasting and swelling of the hands, feet and ankles
    • weight gain
    • delayed wound healing
    • thinning or skin discolouration
    • increased body hair
    • muscle weakness
    • nausea, diarrhoea, tiredness, mood changes, menstrual abnormalities and sexual changes

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea:

    Apply the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Itchy skin:

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM is generally not recommended for use in pregnancy unless considered necessary. Contact your doctor before applying it.

    Breastfeeding

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it is not known whether it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before applying it.

    Kidney

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Contact your doctor before applying it.

    Liver

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Contact your doctor before applying it.

    Allergy

    Do not apply FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM if you are allergic to Fluocinolone, Neomycin or other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM is not recommended for use if you have:

    • perforation of the eardrum

    Before applying FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM, inform your doctor if you have:

    • local or systemic infections or skin infections
    • skin reaction to any steroids
    • hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression
    • cushing’s syndrome
    • diabetes or hyperglycaemia or glucosuria
    • intracranial hypertension

    Use in Paediatrics:

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in children. Contact your doctor before applying it.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Contact your doctor before applying it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Tell your doctor if you are applying for or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, vitamin supplements or herbal products.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of FLUCORT N SKIN CREAM or if you or a child accidentally swallow the medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycaemia and glucosuria, thinning of the skin, bruising easily, changes in body fat (especially in the face, neck, back and waist), increased pimples or facial hair, menstrual problems, impotence or loss of interest in sex.
