    Introduction About FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET contains Fludrocortisone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used in the management of Addison’s disease and salt loosing adrenogenital syndrome. Addison’s disease is a condition in which the hormones that are normally produced by Adrenal glands are no more produced.

    Your doctor may ask you to take some diagnostic tests before starting the management with FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET. FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should not be taken by patients who have an infection and are not taking any medication for it. FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having kidney or liver diseases, thyroid, tuberculosis, bowel disorder, stomach ulcers, cancer, mental health problems, epilepsy, inflammation of vein in leg, unmanageed bacterial, fungal or viral infection.

    Also inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), high blood pressure or heart failure, glaucoma, diabetes, ocular herpes simplex (eye infection), skin rash caused by virus, intestinal surgery, visual disturbances or severe stress/depression. FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used under doctor’s supervision in pregnant and breast-feeding women. FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in children below 18 years of age and elderly above 65 years of age.

    Inform your doctor immediately if you are facing any serious mental health issues (like thoughts of suicide) while taking this medicine. The most common side effects of using FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET are heart failure, high blood pressure, headache, increased swelling or muscle weakness.

    How FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET Works

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET acts by replacing the aldosterone hormone which is not being produced by adrenal glands in the disease condition (Addison’s disease). It also acts on certain receptors in kidneys which leads to increase concentration of sodium in the blood thus, managing salt loosing adrenogenital syndrome.

    How to use FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET

    Take FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET

    Common

    • heart failure (shortness of breath with activity or after lying down for a while)
    • high blood pressure
    • headache
    • increased swelling
    • muscle weakness, tendon rupture, pain or wasting

    Uncommon

    • irregular heartbeat
    • epilepsy or seizures
    • fainting or loss of consciousness
    • diarrhoea

    Rare

    Stop taking FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • allergic or hypersensitivity reaction including anaphylaxis, symptoms include difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, severe pain in abdomen and skin rash
    • serious mental health problems, symptoms include feeling depressed, thoughts about suicide, feeling high (mania), having moods swings, feeling anxious, having problems in sleeping, difficulty in thinking or being confused and losing memory
    • feeling, seeing or hearing things which do not exist (hallucinations), having strange and frightening thoughts, changing how you act or feeling lonely

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:

    Try to rest and relax. Don’t involve yourself in rigorous activities. Avoid bright lights. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    Driving and Using Machines

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET does not impair your ability to drive or use machines.

    Kidney

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Allergy

    Do not take FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET if you are allergic to Fludrocortisone or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with high blood pressure or heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Others

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • are suffering from an infection and are not taking medication for it

    Before taking FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have bacterial, fungal or viral infection that is not being manageed
    • have or had tuberculosis
    • have or had any stomach ulcers or intestinal or bowel disorders
    • have inflammation or infection of veins in the leg
    • have had mental health problems
    • have had epilepsy
    • have suffered from cancer
    • have had thyroid problems
    • have osteoporosis
    • have myasthenia gravis (weak muscles)
    • have or someone in your family have glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
    • have ocular herpes simples (eye infection)
    • are diabetic
    • have muscle damage due to steroid management
    • are suffering from stress
    • have intestinal surgery
    • have skin rash typically caused by viral infection (Ex. measles)
    • have visual disturbances or blurred vision
    • have or ever had severe depression, maniac depression
    • intolerance to sugar

    Use in Pediatrics:

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in children under 18 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET should be used with caution in elders above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking.

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking FLORICOT 100MCG TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen)
    • antifungals (Ex. ketoconazole, amphotericin)
    • medicines used to thin the blood (Ex. warfarin)
    • oral contraceptive pill (Ex. estradiol) or hormone replacement therapy (Ex. oestrogen)
    • human growth hormone (Ex. somatropin)
    • muscle relaxants (Ex. atracurium)
    • medicine used after a transplant (Ex. ciclosporin)
    • medicines used as sedatives (Ex. barbiturates), hypnotics (Ex. zolpidem) or as an adjunct in anaesthesia
    • medicines used to manage HIV (Ex. ritonavir, cobicistat)
    • medicines used to manage raised blood pressure (Ex. clonidine, methyldopa), irregular heartbeat (Ex. digoxin)
