Introduction About FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET contains Fimasartan which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive drugs. It is used to manage essential hypertension. Hypertension is defined as persistently raised blood pressure, that can show symptoms like headache, sweating, fast heartbeat or throbbing sensation. During this management your doctor might regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and electrolyte balance to avoid any untoward side effects.
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having moderate to severe hepatic impairment, hepatobiliary obstruction, diabetes, kidney or adrenal gland impairment, diabetic nephropathy, patients with genetic disorders (like galactose intolerance, Lapp lactose deficiency or glucose/galactose malabsorption) or those undergoing hemodialysis.
Before taking FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any liver problems, renovascular hypertension, heart problems (aortic or mitral valve stenosis, obstructive or hypertrophic cardiac myopathy) or ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant or breast-feeding women. The safety and efficacy of FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET has not been established in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). It should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Contact your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms while taking FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET.

How FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET Works
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET reduces high blood pressure by binding to angiotensin 1 receptor. Thus, managing constriction of blood vessels, reducing aldosterone secretion (regulates blood pressure), increasing excretion of sodium in urine and resulting in a reduction of blood volume.
How to use FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET
Take FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET
Rare
Stop taking FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- low blood pressure
- high blood potassium levels
- transient symptomatic hypotension (Ex. shock, loss of consciousness, breathlessness)
Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby as it can cause fetal and neonatal morbidity and death. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it is not known if it passes through the breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET.

Kidney
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients undergoing hemodialysis. FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having severe kidney impairment or high blood pressure in arteries that carry blood to the kidneys. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Liver
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver impairment or hepatobiliary obstruction. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Allergy
Do not take FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET if you are allergic to Fimasartan, tartrazine, Sunset Yellow FCF or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Heart Disease
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with narrowed aortic or mitral valve, obstructive or hypertrophic cardiac myopathy (heart muscle disease that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body) or ischemic heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have diabetes
- have diabetic nephropathy (damage to blood vessels in your kidneys that filter waste from your blood)
- have galactose intolerance, Lapp lactose deficiency or glucose galactose malabsorption
- have primary aldosteronism (too much aldosterone production by adrenal galnd)
Before taking FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- are going to have any anesthetic or operative procedure
- have ischemic cerebrovascular disease
Use in Pediatrics:
The safety and efficacy of FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET have not been established in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in Geriatrics:
FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. The dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage fluid retention (Ex. spironolactone, hydrochlorothiazide)
- other medicines used to lower blood pressure (Ex. amlodipine, enalapril, aliskiren)
- potassium supplements, salt alternatives containing potassium and other medicines that may increase serum potassium (Ex. heparin)
- lithium (used to manage mood disorders)
- medicines used for pain and inflammation relief (Ex. celecoxib, ibuprofen)
- ketoconazole (used to manage fungal infections)
- rifampicin (used to manage bacterial infections)
- cyclosporin (used to manage transplant rejection)
- warfarin (used for blood thinning)
- atorvastatin (used to control cholesterol levels)
- digoxin (used to manage heart insufficiency)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of FIMAGEN 120MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are low blood pressure and fast heartbeat.
