DT XT 100 TABLET contains Desvenlafaxine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidepressants. It is used in adults to manage major depressive disorder. Major depressive disorder (also known as clinical depression) is a mental health disorder characterized by persistant depressed mood, lack of interest, feeling of guilt, sleep disturbances or sucidial thoughts for a prolonged period (more than 2 weeks) that causes significant impairment in performing day-to-day activities.
Take DT XT 100 TABLET for the stipulated duartion mentioned by your doctor. Although, you might feel improvement in your condition after 2 weeks of therapy with DT XT 100 TABLET, it may take several weeks for DT XT 100 TABLET to deliver complete benefits. Therefore, continue to take DT XT 100 TABLET for the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy.
Before taking DT XT 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have high blood fat levels or any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have or have a family history of bipolar disorder, mania or epilepsy. Do not take DT XT 100 TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor.
Talk to your doctor if you are currently taking other antidepressant medicines (such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine)) while taking DT XT 100 TABLET. You must also inform your doctor if you have taken any antidepressant (especially monoamine oxidase inhibitor) within the last 14 days.
DT XT 100 TABLET may make you feel dizzy or sleepy. Therefore, do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines that requires complete concentration.
Other side effects might include decreased sex drive, increased sweating, constipation, and dry mouth. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen. Also, inform your doctor immediately if you experience any worsening or depression, unusual behaviour or have suicidal thoughts after taking DT XT 100 TABLET.

DT XT 100 TABLET is a potent antidepressant drug. It contains a medicine called desvenlafaxine which is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SSNRI). It acts by increasing the levels of certain chemicals (serotonin and norepinephrine) within the brain that elevates your mood and stabilizes mental health. As a result, it makes you feel active and energetic.
How to use DT XT 100 TABLET
Take DT XT 100 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not cursh or chew the medicine.
DT XT 100 TABLET can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of theray for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Continue to take DT XT 100 TABLET for the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy.

Stop taking DT XT 100 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of serotonin syndrome (feeling agitated, hallucinations, confusion, loss of consciousness, fast heartbeat, feeling dizzy, increased sweating, flushing, tremors, stiff muscles or muscle twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or seizures)
- worsening of hypertension (high blood pressure)
- increased signs of bleeding or bruising
- problems in vision (such as blurred vision, eye swelling or pain, seeing halos around lights and glaucoma)
- fits (seizures)
- low blood sodium levels (causing headache, nausea, difficulty in concentration, memory impairment, confusion, feeling weak or unsteady, hallucinations, fainting or seizures)
- troubled breathing, chest pain or coughing
- worsening of depression, suicidal thoughts or behavior
- behavioural changes (such as anxiety, panic attacks, difficulty in sleeping, irritability, restlessness)
- severe upper abdominal pain, swollen and tender abdomen, fever
How To Manage Side Effects

Constipation
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

Nausea And Vomiting
Take DT XT 100 TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.
Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy
ContraindicatedDT XT 100 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women. If you become pregnant while undergoing therapy with DT XT 100 TABLET, inform your doctor immediately.

Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedDT XT 100 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking DT XT 100 TABLET.

Alcohol
Consult your doctorAvoid consumption of alcohol while taking DT XT 100 TABLET.

Kidney
Use with CautionDT XT 100 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Liver

Allergy

Others
Before taking DT XT 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have had stroke or any other circulatory disorders
- have or ever had any bleeding problems
- have or have a family history of various mental illness (such as bipolar disorder, mania and hypomania)
- have high blood cholesterols levels
- have ever felt extremely sad with suicidal thoughts or behaviour
- have or ever had seizures (fits)
- have low blood sodium levels (causing tiredness, confusion and muscle weakness)
- have glaucoma
Use in Pediatrics:
DT XT 100 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before administration.
Use in Geriatrics:
DT XT 100 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking DT XT 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- other medicines used to manage depression such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. moclobemide, isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine), tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, nortriptyline), lithium, fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram etc.
- linezolid (an antibiotic used to manage bacterial infection)
- intravenous methylene blue (used to manage abnormal methemoglobin levels in blood)
- medicines used to manage migraine headaches (such as sumatriptan, zolmitriptan)
- fentanyl (an opioid analgesic used for pain relief)
- tramadol (used for pain relief)
- tryptophan (an aminoacid used for maintaing mental health)
- buspirone (a medicine used to reduce anxiety)
- amphetamines (used as CNS stimulants) Ex. dexamphetamine and lisdexamphetamine
- dextromethorphan (a cough medicine)
- methadone (a medicine used to manage pain or drug addiction)
- pentazocaine (an anesthetic used to cause numbness before surgeries)
- St. John’s Wort (a herbal medicine used to manage depression)
- medicines that can affect blood clotting (such as aspirin or warfarin)
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (used for pain relief) Ex. paracetamol, ibuprofen, diclofenac
- medicines used to manage mood and anxiety (such as barbiturates (Ex. phenobarbital), benzodiazepines (Ex. diazepam, clonazepam, alprazolam))
- medicines used to manage psychotic disorders (Ex. chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine, trihexiphenidyl)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally consumed more DT XT 100 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose might include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, feeling agitated, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, numbness of body parts and fast heart rate.
