    INTRODUCTION

    CODISTAR SYRUP is a combination of Chlorpheniramine and Codeine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines and Cough suppressants respectively. It is used to treat dry cough associated with allergic rhinitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and tuberculosis. This medicine also provides relief from the cough or similar upper respiratory symptoms associated with allergy or common cold.

    It is not recommended to take CODISTAR SYRUP in pregnant and breast-feeding mothers unless it is clearly necessary. This medicine is not recommended to take CODISTAR SYRUP if you have close angle glaucoma (increases pressure inside eyes), stomach or duodenal ulcers, urine retention or asthmatic attacks. CODISTAR SYRUP should be taken with caution in patients with liver and kidney diseases.

    CODISTAR SYRUP should not be given to children and adolescents under 18 years of age. The most common side effects of taking CODISTAR SYRUP includes sedation, drowsiness, deep sleep, tiredness, dizziness, difficulty to concentrate, low blood pressure, lack of muscle control, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, diarrhoea, stomach pain, heaviness in chest, ringing in ears, poor appetite. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsens or persists for a longer duration.

    It is used to treat dry cough associated with:

    HOW CODISTAR SYRUP WORKS

    CODISTAR SYRUP is a combination of Chlorpheniramine and Codeine. Chlorpheniramine belongs to antihistamine blocks the action of histamine which triggers cough. Codeine belongs to cough suppressant that blocks the action of cough centre in the brain and relieves cough.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    Take CODISTAR SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

    Constipation

    Drink plenty of water. Include more fibres, fruits, and vegetables in your diet. Involve in physical activities. Consult a doctor before taking any medicines by your own.

    Diarrhea

    Always keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and electrolytes such as ORS. Consult your doctor before taking any medication.

    Dry Mouth

    Drink plenty of water and fruit juices and consume soft foods with higher water and fibre content.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Avoid eating fried and greasy food. Take simple, light, and small meals at frequent intervals. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of fluids.

    DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

    ALLERGY

    LUNGS

    CODISTAR SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe asthmatic attacks. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    CODISTAR SYRUP is not recommended to take if you have:

    INTERACTIONS

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking CODISTAR SYRUP inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • diazepam, alprazolam (medicines used to treat anxiety)
    • phenobarbitone (medicines used to treat depression, sleeplessness)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit nearby hospital.
