Introduction About CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS
CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS contains Chloramphenicol which belongs to the group of medicine called Antibiotics. It is used for the management of acute bacterial conjunctivitis.
Bacterial conjunctivitis is also known as pink eye or madras eye. Conjunctivitis is an infection of the outer surfaces of the eye. The infected eye will have redness, itching, teary eyes, sticky discharge or gritty in the eyes.
Before using this medicine to you, inform your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to chloramphenicol.
Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, and heart problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.
The common side effect of this medicine is stinging or burning in the eyes, irritation, swelling, teary eyes, sensitive to light. If you use this medicine for a long time, your doctor may ask for some blood tests to check for any problems.

How CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS Works
Chloramphenicol belongs to antibiotic which stops the growth of bacteria that cause eye infections. It does so by managing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This does not directly destroys the bacteria, but manages them from increasing in numbers, and eventually clears up the eye infection.
How to use CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS
Always use CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS as prescribed by the doctor. It is for ophthalmic use only. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off the extra liquid.
Side Effects Of CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS
Common
- burning or stinging in the eyes
- sensitivity to light
- watery eyes
- blurred vision
Rare
Contact your doctor immediately, if you have,
- wheeziness (shortness of breath), fever, swelling of your face, lips, or tongue, itching or rash with swelling of skin
- sore throat, bruising or being unable to overcome an infection
- severe tiredness or easy bruising
- bone marrow depression
How To Manage Side Effects
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve or worsen.

Driving and Using Machines
CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS may cause blurring of vision, avoid driving and handling of heavy machines unless their vision is clear.
Allergy
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Chloramphenicol or any ingredients of this medicine.
Others
It is not recommended for use if you have:
- blood disorder or bone marrow disease including anemia
- family history of dyscrasias a condition which can cause tiredness, bruising and an increased risk of infections, myelosuppression
Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you:
- have visual disturbances
- have severe pain in the eye
- wear contact lens
Use in pediatrics:
CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS should be used with caution in children. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Use in geriatrics:
CHLOROSUN EYE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Inform your physician if you are taking,
- methotrexate (used to manage cancer)
- azathioprine (used for immune system)
- bone-marrow depressant medicines
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally uses too much of this medicine, wash your eye with plenty of water, if any painful symptoms continue after this, consult your doctor immediately.

Inform your doctor if you don't get better after finishing the full course of management. Also, inform to your doctor if any symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
