It is used to manage various bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (upper and lower), intra-abdominal infections, septicaemia (serious bloodstream infection), meningitis (inflammation of brain and spinal cord membranes, typically caused by an infection), and skin and soft tissue infections.

    It is also used to manage bone and joint infections, gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted bacterial infection), endometritis (inflammation of the uterine lining due to infection), pelvic inflammatory disease (infection of the female reproductive organs), and other infections of the genital tract.

    Bacterial infections are caused by the multiplication of specific harmful strains of bacteria anywhere in the body. It is characterized by symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, tiredness, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, groin, or elsewhere.

    Before receiving CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have impaired kidney function, severe biliary obstruction (blockage of the bile ducts), severe liver disease, or malabsorption conditions, and have a schedule for laboratory tests (such as measuring glucose in the urine).

    CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if advised by the doctor. Also, it should be used with caution in children and elderly patients.

    The most common side effects of receiving CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION are diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects bother you.

    CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION contains cefoperazone and sulbactam. Cefoperazone works by stopping the formation of bacterial cell coverings, which makes the bacteria susceptible to killing. Sulbactam works by reducing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of cefoperazone against the bacteria. Together, they help to manage various bacterial infections.

    How to use CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION

    CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse, either into the vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and severity of the infection.

    Side Effects Of CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION

    Common

    • Diarrhea
    • Nausea, vomiting
    • Coagulopathy (impairment in the blood's ability to clot)

    Uncommon

    • Headache
    • Itching
    • Raised red rashes (urticaria)
    • Pain or inflammation of a vein at the site of injection
    • Fever, chills

    Rare

    Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving CEFPROVAC S 1 INJECTION:

    • Allergic reactions
    • Skin reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and dermatitis exfoliative (signs include blistering and peeling of the skin).

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices. If the symptom does not improve, inform your doctor.

    Headache

    Apply a hot or cold water bag to your head. Drink plenty of fluids. Try taking rest in a quiet and dark room. Apply pain-relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Inform your doctor if the headache does not reduce.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take regular sips of cold drinks. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried, or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. If nausea does not improve, inform your doctor.
