    Introduction About BROMHEXINE TABLET

    BROMHEXINE TABLET contains Bromhexine which belongs to the group of medicines called Mucolytics. It is used as an expectorant that liquefies the sputum and makes it easier to cough it out.

    Before taking BROMHEXINE TABLET inform your doctor if you have liver, or kidney problems, stomach problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking BROMHEXINE TABLET.

    It can be used in adults and adolescents over 14 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    The uncommon side effects are hypersensitivity reactions such as skin and mucous membrane rash, swelling of the face, difficulty in breathing, fever, and rash, urticaria.

    Uses Of BROMHEXINE TABLET

    • Used to manage brochitis and other conditions where sputum is troublesome

    How BROMHEXINE TABLET Works

    BROMHEXINE TABLET belongs to mucolytics which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.

    How to use BROMHEXINE TABLET

    Take this medicine as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your conditions.

    Side Effects Of BROMHEXINE TABLET

    Common

    • irritation of ear
    • allergic skin rash
    • dizziness
    • headache

    Uncommon

    • hypersensitivity reactions such as skin and mucous membrane rash, swelling of the face, difficulty in breathing, fever
    • rash, urticaria

    Rare

    Stop taking and contact your doctor immediately, if you have:

    • severe allergic reaction such as breathing difficulties, swelling of lips, tongue or larynx, increased heart rate, low blood pressure, itching or swelling of skin, rash

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Dizziness:

    Lie down until dizziness passes away and then move slowly and carefully. Take plenty amount of rest and drink plenty of fluids. If your symptom does not improve consult your doctor.

    Pregnancy

    BROMHEXINE TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    BROMHEXINE TABLET is not recommended in breastfeeding women, since it may excrete into breast milk in small quantities. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    BROMHEXINE TABLET does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.

    Kidney

    BROMHEXINE TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from severe kidney diseases. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Liver

    BROMHEXINE TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from severe liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Allergy

    Do not take this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Bromhexine or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    BROMHEXINE TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from lung diseases such as bronchial asthma or mechanical narrowing of bronchial lumen (inhibited excretion of secretions from the bronchi). Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    BROMHEXINE TABLET is not recommended, if you have:

    • history of gastric or duodenal ulcers

    Before taking BROMHEXINE TABLET inform your doctor if you have:

    • weakened body, develop blemishes (including ulcers on mucous membranes, such as your mouth, throat, nose, eyes, genitals)

    Use in pediatrics:

    BROMHEXINE TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 14 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • antibiotics (Ex. erythromycin, cefalexine)
    • medicines (Ex. salicylates, phenylbuthazone and oxyphenylbuthazone)
    • medicines (Ex. codeine)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
