    Introduction About BLONITAS 2MG TABLET

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET contains Blonanserin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotic agents. BLONITAS 2MG TABLET is used to manage schizophrenia, which occurs as a serious mental disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, feel or behave clearly.

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Blonanserin.

    Before taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET, inform the doctor if  the patient is in coma state and/or have kidney/liver problems.

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary.

    The medicine is also advised to be used with caution in adolescents (aged 12 to 18 years) and in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) after consulting the doctor.

    The most common side effects of taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET are symptoms of Parkinson's syndrome (such as tremor in limbs, muscle rigidity, slow movement), akathisia (restlessness), insomnia, drowsiness, anxiety, irritability, itchiness and/or rash. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

    How BLONITAS 2MG TABLET Works

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET works by blocking dopamine D2 receptors (proteins responsible for synthesis and release of dopamine) in brain which results in reduced synthesis of dopamine thus improving thoughts, feelings and behaviour and thereby managing symptoms of schizophrenia in affected individuals.

    How to use BLONITAS 2MG TABLET

    Take BLONITAS 2MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of BLONITAS 2MG TABLET

    Common

    • symptoms of Parkinson's syndrome (such as tremor in limbs, muscle rigidity, slow movement)
    • akathisia (restlessness), insomnia (sleeplessness), drowsiness
    • dyskinesia (involuntary movement of face particularly around the mouth)
    • anxiety, irritability
    • feeling irritated
    • rash, itchiness, eczema (skin inflammation)

    Rare

    Stop taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of malignant syndrome (life threatening neurologic reaction to antipsychotics) such as acute fever, muscle rigidity, tremor in limbs
    • tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movement of face, particularly around the mouth)
    • signs of paralytic ileus (intestinal blockage) such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and/or severe constipation
    • syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (responsible for blood pressure/volume and tissue water content in the body) secretion associated with symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and/or convulsion
    • signs of rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of damaged skeletal muscle) such as pain, stiffness and/or numbness in the muscles of the limbs

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Itchy Skin:

    Try to pat or tap your skin instead of scratching it. Hold a damp towel to cool your skin. Wear loose clothing and avoid tight clothes or clothes made from wool or synthetic fabrics. Avoid using perfumed soaps, deodorants or moisturizers and use a skin softener regularly.

    Drowsiness:

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling drowsy. Do not drink alcohol, as it can aggravate your drowsiness. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve or worsens.

    Rashes:

    Do not scratch the affected area. Wear protective clothing while going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience drowsiness and/or decreased attentiveness/concentration/reflex movement after taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Consult your doctor

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET since it can increase the effect of the medicine.

    Kidney

    Use with Caution

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Blonanserin and/or any other ingredients of this medicine. It should be used with caution in patients allergic to other medicines/food. Consult your doctor before taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET.

    Use In Pediatrics

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 12 to 18 years). Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the child.

    Use In Geriatrics

    BLONITAS 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines including prescription, non-prescription medicines and/herbal supplements.

    B. Drug - Food interaction:

    Avoid consumption of grapefruit juice while taking BLONITAS 2MG TABLET since it may increase the effect of this medicine.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of BLONITAS 2MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital to manage overdose symptoms.
