    INTRODUCTION ABOUT AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION contains Amphotericin B which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-fungal agents. AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION is used to manage invasive fungal infections in patients who are resistant/intolerant to conventional Amphotericin B therapy.

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Amphotericin B. It is also not recommended for use in patients with common/superficial, clinically inapparent fungal infections (which are detectable only by positive skin/serologic tests).

    Before receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are neutropenic, and/or have liver problems (such as hepatic impairment), and suffer from kidney problems/undergoing dialysis.

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is also used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and in elders (aged above 65 years) after consulting with the doctor.

    The most common side effects of receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION are fever, chills, and/or rigors. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

    USES OF AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION

    • Manage invasive fungal infections in patients who are resistant/intolerant to conventional Amphotericin B therapy

    HOW AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION WORKS

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION binds to ergosterol (steroid present on the cell membranes of fungi) which leads to the formation of pores and ion leakage on the cell membrane resulting in fungal cell death thus managing invasive fungal infections in affected individuals.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous infusion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

    PREGNANCY

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in pregnant women only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

    BREASTFEEDING

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

    DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION is unlikely to affect your ability to drive/operate machines.  Consult your doctor before receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION.

    KIDNEY

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in patients with kidney disease and in patients who are under dialysis.  Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

    LIVER

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be administered with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, and/or other liver disease. Consult your doctor before receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION.

    ALLERGY

    Do not receive AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Amphotericin B, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    OTHERS

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if you:

    • have common/superficial, clinically inapparent fungal infections (which are detectable only by positive skin/serologic tests)

    Before receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:

    • suffer from neutropenia (condition marked by low count of neutrophils)

    Use in Pediatrics:

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Consult your doctor before child receives the medicine.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult your doctor before receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION.

    INTERACTIONS

    A. Drug–Drug interactions:

    Before receiving AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • nephrotoxic drugs (medicines that can cause damage to the kidney) Ex. minoglycosides, cisplatin
    • zidovudine (used to manage HIV)
    • cyclosporin (used to manage transplanted organ rejection)

    Overdosage:

    AMPHOLIP 50 MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
