    INTRODUCTION

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is a combination of Ambroxol, Levocetirizine and Phenylephrine which belongs to the group of medicines called Mucolytic, Antihistamines and Nasal decongestants. It is used to treat productive cough, bronchitis (inflammation of bronchioles), asthma (narrowing of airways causing difficulty in breathing), emphysema (destruction of air spaces of lungs) and other chronic inflammatory conditions.

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. AMICET PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart disease high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is generally not recommended for use during the first trimester of pregnancy and in breastfeeding women. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. AMICET PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    The most common side effects of taking AMICET PLUS TABLET are drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, heartburn or bloating etc. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.

    USES OF AMICET PLUS TABLET

    Treats:

    • Productive cough

    HOW AMICET PLUS TABLET WORKS

    AMICET PLUS TABLET helps to treat productive cough, where Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and breaks the phlegm, making it easier to cough out. Levocetirizine is an Antihistamine blocks the binding of histamine (responsible for allergic reactions such as sneezing, watery and itchy eyes and runny nose) to Histamine H1receptors, thus preventing allergic reactions and Phenylephrine is a Nasal decongestant works by reducing swelling of the blood vessel in nasal passages, thus makes it easier to breathe.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    Take AMICET PLUS TABLET as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration and frequency for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    SIDE EFFECTS OF AMICET PLUS TABLET

    COMMON

    • drowsiness, tiredness
    • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, heartburn or bloating, abdominal pain and dry mouth or dry throat

    RARE

    Stop taking AMICET PLUS TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs and symptoms of progressive skin rash associated with blisters or mucosal lesions
    • urinary retention
    • nervous, dizzy or sleepless
    • fever or symptoms do not improve within 7 days

    HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for treating diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhoea did not improve.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling drowsy. Do not drink alcohol, as it can aggravate your drowsiness. Contact your doctor if your drowsiness did not improve.

    Dry Mouth

    Dry mouth can be managed by chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies to stimulate the flow of saliva. Sip water at regular intervals of time. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can be drying. Consult your doctor if the dry mouth gets worse.

    Indigestion

    Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If the indigestion does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take AMICET PLUS TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.

    Skin Rash Or Itching

    Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to have smaller meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Do not self-treat and contact your doctor if the stomach pain did not improve.

    PREGNANCY
    Monitoring required

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is generally not recommended for use during the first trimester of pregnancy. Therefore, contact your doctor before taking it.

    BREASTFEEDING
    Contraindicated

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
    Use with Caution

    AMICET PLUS TABLET may cause sleepiness, fatigue and weakness. Do not drive or operate any machine after taking this medicine.

    ALCOHOL
    Consult your doctor

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking AMICET PLUS TABLET as it may lead to unwanted effects like decrease in alertness and impairment of performance.

    KIDNEY
    Contraindicated

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease or undergoing haemodialysis. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    LIVER
    Consult your doctor

    AMICET PLUS TABLET should be used in patients with severe liver disease only after consulting your doctor. Therefore, contact your doctor before taking it.

    ALLERGY
    Contraindicated

    Do not take AMICET PLUS TABLET if you are allergic to ambroxol, levocetirizine or to cetirizine, hydroxyzine and phenylephrine or to other ingredients of this medicine.

    HEART DISEASE
    Use with Caution

    AMICET PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart disease high blood pressure. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    OTHERS

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

    • galactose intolerance
    • the Lapp lactase deficiency (difficult to digest lactose)
    • glucose-galactose malabsorption (a condition in which body cannot absorb the sugars glucose and galactose)

    Before taking AMICET PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:

    • difficulty in urination due to spinal cord lesion, prostate gland enlargement
    • thyroid disease
    • diabetes

    Use in Paediatrics:

    AMICET PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    AMICET PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients aged 65 years or above. Contact your doctor before taking AMICET PLUS TABLET.

    INTERACTIONS

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking AMICET PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • central nervous system depressants Ex. lorazepam, diazepam (medicines used for anxiety, fits, panic disorders)
    • theophylline (used to treat asthma)
    • ritonavir (used for HIV infection)
    • monoamine oxidase inhibitor Ex. selegiline (medicines used for depression, parkinson’s disease)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of AMICET PLUS TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage may include drowsiness, agitation and restlessness.
