ZIPSYDON contains Ziprasidone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antipsychotics. It is used in the treatment of Schizophrenia (a mental disorder characterized by seeing, hearing and feeling things that does not exist, believing in something that do not exist, unusual suspicion, remaining absent, difficulty in being social, nervousness, depression and anxiety. Also, it is used for the treatment of manic or mixed episodes of moderate severity in bipolar disorder (in people of age 10 to 17 years). Mania is a disease that is characterized by elated behaviour, exaggerated self-esteem, increase in energy, decreased need for sleeping, lack of concentration or hyperactivity and repeated high risk-taking behaviour.
ZIPSYDON is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases or those who recently had heart attack or heart rhythm problems. Before taking ZIPSYDON inform your doctor if you have any liver or blood clot problems (including family history), had fits, low-resting heart rate or salt depletion as a result of severe diarrhoea or vomiting.
ZIPSYDON should be used in pregnant women only if clearly advised by the doctor. It is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON if you are pregnant or breast feeding. ZIPSYDON should be used with caution in children (aged 10 -17 years) and elderly patients (above 65 years of age). Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON. The most common side effects of taking ZIPSYDON are sleepiness, headache and dizziness. Consult with your doctor if the symptoms do not improve.

ZIPSYDON works in the brain to improve thinking, mood and behavior by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain such as dopamine and serotonin, which helps to treat manic episodes of bipolar disorder and symptoms of schizophrenia.
Take ZIPSYDON as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ZIPSYDON and consult with your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea and Vomiting:
ZIPSYDON can be taken with or after meals. Simple meals are preferred. Oil rich or spicy foods should be avoided. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Headache:
Drink ample amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain-relieving balm on your forehead if required. If there is no improvement, consult your doctor.
Constipation:
Take fiber rich foods in your diet such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain cereals, and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Dizziness:
Lie down until dizziness passes away and then move slowly and carefully. Take plenty amount of rest and drink plenty of fluids. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
ZIPSYDON should be used in pregnant women only when considered clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON.
ZIPSYDON is not recommended for use in breast feeding women since it may pass into the breast milk. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON if you are breast-feeding.
Do not take drive or use machines after taking ZIPSYDON as it may make you feel drowsy.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking ZIPSYDON, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
ZIPSYDON should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult with your doctor before taking ZIPSYDON.
Do not take ZIPSYDON if you are allergic to Ziprasidone or any other ingredients of this medicine.

What are the common side effects of ZIPSYDON?
The common side effects of ZIPSYDON are restlessness, abnormal movements which includes involuntary movements, muscular stiffness and rigidity, slow movements, shaking, general weakness and tiredness, sleepiness, headache, dizziness, constipation, nausea, vomiting and digestion problems, dry mouth, more salivation and blurred vision. What should I do if I forgot to take a dose of ZIPSYDON?
It is important for you to take ZIPSYDON regularly at the same time of each day. If you forget to take a dose of ZIPSYDON, take it immediately when you remember unless it is time for your next dose. In that case, just take the next dose of ZIPSYDON. Do not take double dose to make up for the forgotten dose.
