It is used to treat:

  • certain types of seizures (partial, tonic-clonic, mixed)
  • certain types of nerve pain (trigeminal and glossopharyngeal neuralgia)

It is not a regular pain medicine and should not be used for aches or pains

  • If you take more ZEPTOL CR, call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital right away

If you forget to take ZEPTOL CR

  • If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose
  • Do not take double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking ZEPTOL CR

  • Do not stop taking this medicine without first talking to your healthcare provider
  • Stopping the medicine suddenly can cause serious problems
  • Stopping seizure medicine suddenly in a patient who has epilepsy can cause seizures that will not stop (status epilepticus)

  • serious rashes that may lead to death
  • skin reactions marked by skin rash, hives, sores in your mouth, blistering or peeling of the skin
  • frequent fever or fever that do not go away
  • frequent infections or an infection that does not go away
  • unusual bruising or bleeding
  • red or purple spots on your body
  • unexpected muscle pain that does not go away
  • swelling of your face, eyes, lips, or tongue
  • swollen glands
