INTRODUCTION

WORMIN 100MG TABLET contains a medicine Mebendazole which belongs to a group of medicines called Anthelmintics. It is used to treat threadworms (also called as pinworms) and other common worm infections of the gut (Ex. whipworm, roundworm, hookworm).

Initially, symptoms of gut worms may be mild or non-existent, but infections can lead to diarrhoea, stomach pain, weakness, anaemia (low red blood cells) and nutritional problems. You must consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days of treatment.

Before taking WORMIN 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any allergies or if you are taking any other medicines. WORMIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use among pregnant women and should only be used under medical supervision in breastfeeding women.

WORMIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (under 2 years of age), therefore, consult your child’s doctor for advice. The most common side effect of taking WORMIN 100MG TABLET is stomach pain. Call your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse.

USES OF WORMIN 100MG TABLET

Treats gut infections like:

  • Threadworms (also called as pinworms) or
  • Other common worm infections (Ex. whipworm, roundworm, hookworm)

HOW WORMIN 100MG TABLET WORKS

WORMIN 100MG TABLET interferes with cell formation in the worm and causes structural damage in its intestine. As a result, its glucose uptake and the digestive and reproductive functions are disturbed, leading to immobilization, inhibition of egg production and death of the worm.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take WORMIN 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. You can crush it before giving it to a young child.

For Tablet: Swallow WORMIN 100MG TABLET with a glass of water.

For Chewable Tablet: Chew WORMIN 100MG TABLET before swallowing.

Your doctor will decide a proper dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and type of worm infection. Continue to take WORMIN 100MG TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.

SIDE EFFECTS OF WORMIN 100MG TABLET

COMMON

  • stomach pain

UNCOMMON

  • stomach discomfort, diarrhea
  • wind
  • nausea, vomiting

RARE

  • rash
  • inflammation of the liver or altered liver function
  • reduced white blood cells (reducing body’s defense against infections)
  • unusual hair loss
  • dizziness

Stop taking WORMIN 100MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • allergic reaction (sudden swelling of your face or throat, unexplained wheezing, shortness of breath, hives)
  • skin rashes (including peeling or blistering of your skin), itching, fever
  • convulsions (fits) in infants

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea or vomiting:

Take WORMIN 100MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

Diarrhea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

Dizziness:

Lie or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. If you're feeling severe episode of spinning (vertigo), lie in a dark and quite place with eyes closed. Try to avoid vehicle driving. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

WORMIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

WORMIN 100MG TABLET should be used in breastfeeding women only under medical supervision. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy after taking WORMIN 100MG TABLET.

ALLERGY

Do not take WORMIN 100MG TABLET if you are allergic to Mebendazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

Use in Pediatrics:

WORMIN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (aged under 2 years). It should be used in children aged 1-2 years only under medical supervision and if there are no suitable alternatives. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking WORMIN 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • metronidazole (used to treat bacterial and protozoal infections)
  • cimetidine (used to reduce excess stomach acidity)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of WORMIN 100MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are hair loss, liver or kidney problems, change in white blood cell count.
